What Does Will Smith Really Think About Wild Wild West?

23 June 2016 6:05 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

This summer marks the 20th Anniversary of the hit blockbuster Independence Day, which turned Will Smith into a massive superstar overnight. It became the first movie ever to gross more than $500 million worldwide, and, naturally, after that movie started raking it in at the box office, everyone wanted Will Smith in their movies. Over the next few years, Will Smith would go on to star in hits such as Men in Black and Enemy of the State, but the actor recently addressed one of his missteps, the 1999 Western action adaptation of the Wild Wild West TV show which brought in some sci-fi elemenst to boot.

Wild Wild West wasn't an absolute bomb in theaters, but it still came in far below the rest of his hits over the late 1990s. Wild Wild West took in $113.4 million domestically and $222.1 million worldwide, from a hefty $170 million budget back in 1999. Will Smith starred »

Sharon Stone’s “Wee” Marvel Role Should Be the Original Wasp

Because the McU is into “very expensive nostalgia”

Sharon Stone revealed on The Late Late Show last Thursday that she’s joining the McU, and while she had no details to share because of a confidentiality agreement, she said that it’s a “wee” part. Now, that could just be in reference to the size of her role, or it could be a sneaky hint that she’s actually playing a miniaturizing superhero.

Namely Janet van Dyne, aka the original version of The Wasp.

There are good reasons why that guess is a bad one. Ant-Man and The Wasp, which is where the character would appear, doesn’t begin filming until summer 2017 for a July 2018 release, and while it’s possible such a significant part has already been cast, or at least is in the stages of being cast, Stone made it sound like she’s doing the movie “now,” as »

Movie Review – Triple 9 (2016)

17 February 2016 2:50 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Triple 9, 2016.

Directed by John Hillcoat.

Starring Casey Affleck, Anthony Mackie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus and Gal Gadot.

Synopsis:

A group of police-officers use their expert knowledge to rob banks, but a new cop joins the force and becomes the unwitting target of their next job – using the ‘triple 9′ code to draw all the police to the death of another officer…

Remember when John Hillcoat’s The Road was snubbed at the Academy Awards? It’s only a short time since Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet were grabbing Oscar and BAFTA statuettes while Aaron Paul and Norman Reedus were picking up, and nominated, for Emmys and Saturns. Then Hillcoat’s Triple 9 arrives. Packaged as a taught thriller, with dirty cops and sincere thieves, Triple 9 mixes a pot of terrific talent and seems to overcook the brew. Something is missing and the fast-action »

A MacGyver Movie Is In Development In Addition To The Already-Announced TV Reboot

5 February 2016 2:37 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Following last October’s announcement that the classic 1980’s action series MacGyver would be returning to CBS, news out of a Lionsgate analysts meeting this morning has revealed that the company is simultaneously planning a big-budget movie reboot of the show as well.

The movie will reportedly be produced by the show’s creator, Lee David Zlotoff, with Fast and Furious franchise producer Neal Moritz coming in to help as well. Although there was no confirmation of the plot for the film, since both the TV show and movie reboot will be created by Lionsgate, it seems that the studio is attempting to set up a new shared universe for the action-heavy franchise.

Regarding the television version, director James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring) has been chosen to direct the pilot of the show, with writer Paul Downs Colaizzo on script duties. Although Wan was previously attached to a MacGyver »
