Catch-up and download: from Lucifer to Funny Valentines

19 hours ago | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

The devil takes a break in the City Of Angels on Amazon Prime while the BBC’s romantic short film series returns for a second season on the iPlayer

Turns out the devil is actually all right. Slick going on slimy, but handsome, charming and, on the basis of this new Amazon original, essentially benign. Former Miranda star Tom Ellis lands the plum role of Lucifer Morningstar in this pleasingly daft romp based on a character in Neil Gaiman’s comic-book The Sandman. Lucifer is an immortal demon, bored of life as the Lord Of Hell and trying his luck in the glossily corrupt City Of Angels. His infernal past won’t let him go but, for now, he’s enjoying his self-created role as part time crimefighter and full-time ladykiller.

Haunting First Teaser For Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 Confirms April Premiere Date

5 February 2016 1:35 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Maddie, Nick, Travis make a beeline for the Pacific coast in today’s first teaser for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 2, confirming the spinoff series for a return on April 11.

That’s perhaps a lot sooner than many fans anticipated, bearing in mind that the inaugural season didn’t make its bow until late August last year. Indeed, if you’re hoping for much of a respite to process what will surely be a barnstorming finale to The Walking Dead season 6 – pegged for April 3 – we’re sorry to report that AMC is primed to executive a one-two punch of undead goodness.

When we left Fear the Walking Dead late last year, Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis) and their extended family had taken up residence in Strand’s (Colman Domingo). There’s some fleeting signs to Strand’s safe haven in today’s teaser, too, though fans needn »

4 February 2016 1:18 PM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Dooming the fair City of Angels to another year of alien occupation and inevitable traffic issues caused by it, USA has renewed Colony for a second season. The series, which comes from Lost's Carlton Cuse and Hercules's Ryan Condal, stars Lost's Josh Holloway and will air the fourth episode of its ten-episode first season tonight. Holloway plays a former FBI agent who collaborates with the forces of the alien occupation in Los Angeles order to get his son back, while Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori from The Walking Dead) plays his wife. A second season will give Colony a chance to unravel more of its elaborate mythology, though it better not introduce anything involving a hatch. »

The folks behind Coachella have issues with the hood ... which is why they're going to court to gripe about an urban version of the festival. Hoodchella is set to go down in April in the City of Angels. It's being advertised as a 2-day festival featuring a bunch of DJs. Coachella has certainly made a name for itself since it launched 17 years ago, and the people behind it say they own the name and changing »

Amazon has announced that it has snapped up the exclusive UK rights to the new DC / Vertigo series Lucifer, starring Tom Ellis (Miranda) in the title role of the Lord of Hell.

Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement when a violent attack on someone he knows shakes him to the core, forcing him to consider whether some deep-buried compassion might be about to surface. As the story of what happened that night unfolds, Lucifer is compelled to work with Lapd homicide detective Chloe Dancer (Lauren German, Chicago Fire) who, despite being immune to his irresistible charms, is intrigued by Lucifer’s talent for drawing out people’s secrets. More used to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness and an uneasy partnership of sorts emerges. Meanwhile, God’s emissary on Earth, the angel Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside, Suits), has been sent to L. »

Agent Carter Season 2 Episode 1/2 Review: “The Lady in the Lake”/”A View in the Dark”

After a long wait, the new season of ABC’s other Marvel hit series, Agent Carter, finally kicked off as Peggy Carter packs up and moves to the City of Angels to begin a new adventure with the introductions of new threats, new faces as well as the return of some old favorites too. Todd Haynes’s Patricia Highsmith adaptation, Carol, stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.

Something of a glaring omission from this year's Oscar nominations, Todd Haynes' lesbian romance Carol has won five prizes at this year's Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics' Awards, including Film of the Year. The awards are not restricted to Lgbtq film and Leonardo DiCaprio has been recognised for his performance in The Revenant, further strengthening his position as Oscar favourite.

Outsider hit Tangerine, which follows two trans sex workers through a trying day in the City of Angels, secured the title of Unsung Film of the Year after what has been a disappointing awards season so far for actresses who were tipped to do well.
