Cameron Diaz and Most of Her Shrek Guys Kick Off Tribeca

22 April 2010 5:00 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

The Shrek Ever After premiere kicked off the Tribeca Film Festival with an animated bang last night. Cameron Diaz traded in her super cute afternoon Proenza dress for an evening-ready Lbd and nude pumps. She was the female representative with her costars Eddie Murphy, Mike Meyers, and Antonio Banderas. The festival's founder Robert De Niro came out to support the movie and begin the eighth-annual weeklong cinematic event. CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison looked happy and in love, showing that he has no hard feelings after her Tmi bathroom tweet. One castmate not in attendance was Justin Timberlake, whose antics with Cameron during the last Shrek press tour had all eyes on them. The exes are working together again on Bad Teacher, which has already caused headlines and covers about their close relationship. Unreported World

7.30pm, Channel 4

It has become a truism that Pakistan is one of the most dangerous and volatile countries in the world. It is less widely understood that one of the most dangerous and volatile things in it is an illegal organisation called Lashkar-e-Taiba, which began as a militia in Kashmir and is now a terrorist outfit with international reach; they are widely blamed for the 2008 attack on Mumbai, among many other outrages. Here Evan Williams travels to Lahore to meet them.

Dispatches: Tracing The Marathon's Millions

8pm, Channel 4

The annual London marathon is the single-biggest one-day fundraising event in the world. However, it's plausible that few of the 36,000 who ran last year, whether in lightweight athletic kit or dressed as some sort of stuffed toy, subsequently paused, as they gasped for breath, to wonder what happened to the £47m they raised. »

Movie Preview & Trailer: The Bounty Hunter (2010), Starring Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler

19 March 2010 12:30 PM, PDT | ScreenStar | See recent ScreenStar news »

The Bounty Hunter (2010) is a movie that we're hoping against hope will work. Jennifer Aniston is one of Hollywood's most popular and winsome actresses, but she's lately attached herself to too many turkeys. Gerard Butler, meanwhile, is one of Tinseltown's busiest actors, a guy's guy who can make almost anything work, but he's had a couple of duds recently as well. The Bounty Hunter pairs Aniston and Butler together for a would-be sexy, action-packed romantic comedy. Set for release on March 19, The Bounty Hunter (2010) casts Aniston as Nicole, an investigative reporter at the Daily News in Manhattan. Nicole skips out on a court date and bail in order to follow a story for the newspaper, and a bounty hunter is dispatched to bring her in. That bounty hunter? Well, that'd be Milo, who happens to be a former cop and also Nicole's former husband. Of course, the two of them despise each other. »

9 March 2010 8:23 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The actress who plays Julie Bingham discusses working with Jason Reitman, the Two and a Half Men shutdown, future projects and more

Melanie Lynskey was just a normal 16 year old girl in New Zealand when she was spotted by writer Fran Walsh for a role in Peter Jackson's film Heavenly Creatures. After taking a hiatus from the business to finish her schooling and move out to Los Angeles, she landed a string of roles in high-profile movies such as Ever After, Coyote Ugly, Sweet Home Alabama along with a recurring role as Rose, Charlie Sheen's stalker on the hit TV series Two and a Half Men. 2009 was quite a year for the actress as she appeared in three films from three of the best directors working today: Steven Soderbergh's The Informant, Sam Mendes' Away We Go and her most recent film, Jason Reitman's Best Picture nominee Up In the Air, »

Ah, Valentine.s Day. The finest holiday that corporate institutions could devise. Jewelers, florists and candy-makers the world over revel in sales as people try to romance each other with all the things that are completely irrelevant to a successful relationship. But the classic tradition of dinner and a movie is still a Valentine.s Day tradition for many couples, and as with any holiday, some movies do better than others. So which Valentine.s Day weekend openings were history's hottest tickets? You might just be surprised. Take a look and update your Netflix queue for this weekend.s romantic (or not so romantic) entertainment. Is it any surprise that this romantic comedy is right on top? Can "Happily Ever After" Exist in a Sequel-Ridden World?

5 February 2010 2:18 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

With each passing year I grow to hate finalés and endings more and more. It used to be that an ending was an actual conclusion -- stories would wrap up for better or for worse, and we'd have a sense of closure. The End. But as the sequel train picks up more and more steam, few films get to keep their endings.

We all know that the "happily ever after" idea isn't real. It's a nice little delusion to make us forget about life's many ups and downs. If life were perfect, we'd be living in a Disney fairytale. But wait -- even those aren't free of repeats. As Elisabeth pointed out with the Enchanted sequel, "I see no reason for a sequel. The point of Enchanted (and any fairy tale, modern or medieval) is that it ends happily ever That's it! They've overcome their drawbridges and dragons, and now they get to chill out. »

Disney Conjuring Up An 'Enchanted' Sequel

4 February 2010 7:33 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Disney has never made a film it didn't want to return to at least once or twice, and (usually) spin off into direct-to-dvd sequels. The latest to receive a Mouse House double dip is Enchanted, and Variety reports the film has already attracted Anne Fletcher to the director's chair. Jessie Nelson will pen the script. At this point, none of the original actors are signed to return, though Disney is hoping they'll all sign on for a sequel.

I absolutely loved the original Enchanted. It was delightfully self-aware for a Disney film, and yet it wasn't slick or modern enough to lose any heart. As romantic comedies go, it's a pretty empowering one for females of all ages. Giselle fights a dragon, finds her own willpower, and starts her own business. She could survive just fine without Patrick Dempsey. I love it. It's just one of the sweetest, funniest movies I've seen, »

Viva Jeanne!

23 January 2010 1:30 PM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Jose here to remind you that the magnificent Jeanne Moreau turns 82 today.

Go and celebrate by watching Elevator to the Gallows, Diary of a Chambermaid, The Lovers, Querelle, The Bride Wore Black, Jules and Jim, The Last Tycoon or my favorite La Notte.

Heck you can even watch Ever After if only to enjoy that smokey voice narrating a fairy tale.

If you've seen those and love Jeanne, today's a perfect day to revisit them and if you're not familiar with the woman Orson Welles called "the greatest actress in the world", what are you waiting for? »
