First Teaser For Aardman’s Early Man

19 March 2017 1:05 PM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

While it won’t be released until 2018, Early Man has unveiled it’s first teaser trailer, giving us brief look at what Aardman’s prehistoric adventure has in store for us. Bearing the quirky animation studio’s distinctive style and sense of humour, and introducing us to Eddie Redmayne’s heroic Dug (just one member of an amazing voice cast that also includes Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, and Richard Ayoade), it does look like it should sit comfortably beside Aardman’s other efforts, especially Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run. Check it out for yourself below. Released: January 26th 2018 Synopsis: Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of courageous caveman hero Dug (Eddie Redmayne) and his best friend Hognob as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy Lord Nooth (Tom Hiddleston) and his Bronze Age City to save their home. »

Check out the new trailer for Despicable Me 3 below and see the film when it hits Cineplex theatres on June 30th.

Baby Driver

Have you heard of Baby Driver yet?!

This one is from Edgar Wright, the writer/director of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Enough said, right? It's about a young getaway »

Coming Distractions: Here’s a teaser for Aardman’s Early Man, with Maisie Williams and Eddie Redmayne

16 March 2017 4:57 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

British animation studio Aardman is a reliably consistent hit maker, whether it’s a classic like Wallace & Gromit or a newcomer like the Shaun The Sheep movie. And now the people who also made Chicken Run are back with a teaser trailer for Early Man. This short clip doesn’t tell us much, but it does establish that the film will include Aardman’s typical brand of goofy humor and fondness for rambunctious rabbits. The film evidently centers around some prehistoric cave-people, and the main caveman will be voiced by Eddie Redmayne, with Tom Hiddleston playing the evil ruler of a nearby civilization. Maisie Williams will also be there, playing a mystery character named Goona.

Early Man will be in theaters in 2018.

Early Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid trailers make our daily round-up!Early Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid trailers make our daily round-up!Adriana Floridia3/16/2017 3:00:00 Pm

Only in our wildest dreams would Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston co-star in a film about cavemen.

Well, it looks we have it with Early Man. A new teaser for the film dropped today, and its the latest from Nick Park, the man behind classics like Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. We don't know too much about this one, other than it being another claymation film that takes place at the dawn of time. We love these films and so we're super pumped for this. Check out the new teaser below!

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books were a total sensation, and the films truly capture the hilarity of the series. We're excited to see this new installment, »

Musical Memes and Trading Coffee for Car Chases with Hans Zimmer

16 March 2017 11:22 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

“Who doesn’t want to be inventive and weird?”

Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest, most prolific film composers alive with a plethora of scores so recognizable he’s taking them to Coachella. Anyone whose themes are so powerful they can be appreciated under a music festival’s haze has to be remarkable. He’s also willing to piss off his publicist by digging into goofy questions long after his schedule has told him to move on. And by God, I respect that. Zimmer sat down with me to discuss his new online MasterClass, trading coffee for car chases, and musical memes.

Hans Zimmer: I’m excited that you are Film School Rejects because I am definitely a music school reject.

Q: You’re doing the Diy thing and putting on your own school.

Hz: Something like that. I know so many people that wanted to make a movie — that needed to make a movie »

Aardman Unearths Zippy First Teaser For Early Man

16 March 2017 7:17 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Stop-motion connoisseurs Aardman Animations are getting back into the game with Early Man, a prehistoric adventure starring Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston and Game of Thrones starlet Maisie Williams.

Slated for January of 2018, today brings forth the very first teaser trailer for Nick Park’s old-timey adventure flick, and fans of Aardman’s decorated body of work (see: Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run) ought to feel right at home. Up above, we’re introduced to plucky caveman Dug (Redmayne), a hero from the Stone Age with more courage than sense.

Placed at the forefront of his hapless tribe – here we see Dug’s allies scuppering a hunting trip, blissfully unaware that they’re creating too much noise – Redmayne’s protagonist spearheads a fight against the mighty Lord Nooth (Hiddleston), a ridiculously pompous governor/tyrant who hails from a neighboring Bronze Age town. Williams, meanwhile, is attached to the part of Goona, »

Run The Series: Shrek’s lazy example defined a studio and changed animation

21 February 2017 10:00 PM, PST | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

With Run The Series, The A.V. Club examines film franchises, studying how they change and evolve with each new installment.

Shrek was not the first film to be released by Dreamworks Animation, but it was the one that set the tone for the studio, establishing a blueprint that would be copied, in one form or another, for most of its subsequent features. It was both its Snow White and, given its bizarro-world Disney worldview, an anti-Snow White.

Previous titles had included a pair of overt Mouse House rip-offs (The Prince Of Egypt and The Road To El Dorado, both cel-animated adventures with original music), a stab at claymation (Chicken Run), and Antz, a dialogue-heavy title that skewed a bit more adult and played like a trial run for its overall capabilities, given how relatively primitive the visuals were. All of those have their defenders, but none broke out ...
