The Mummy Trailer Will Leave You With More Than a Few Nightmares

18 May 2017 8:55 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

You might remember the first few Mummy films as being a touch lighthearted thanks to the easy rapport between Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, but it looks like the latest installment in the franchise is getting one terrifying facelift. Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Russell Crowe, and Courtney B. Vance star in the reboot about a malevolent ancient princess who is awakened from her tomb, wreaking havoc and terror across the world. The new mummy in question - played by Kingsman: The Secret Service's Sofia Boutella - is straight out of our nightmares. Another full-length trailer has been released, and along with being just as scary as the teaser, it hints that Cruise's character might be something other than human. The Mummy hits theaters on June 9. »

The Witcher: Netflix is working on a TV version

Matthew Byrd May 18, 2017

The Witcher novels - already adapted into popular games - are set to be tackled by Netflix...

Netflix has begun production on a series based on author Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher books.

The upcoming Netflix series will be based on the original Witcher novels, and is not directly related to the CD Projekt Red video game franchise. Naturally, though, there are bound to be similarities.

That fact adds a slightly humorous twist to this announcement when you consider that Sapkowski recently spoke out against the artistic merit of the Witcher game saga by calling into question the medium's ability to properly tell such a grand story. Before that, Sapkowski also admitted that he chose not to take a percentage for the adaptation rights which he later came to regret when the series went on to gross over a billion dollars.

Apparently, the author has worked out a »

Jerry Goldsmith Receives a Star on the Walk of Fame

9 May 2017 10:59 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

When Joe Dante was asked about supporting the effort to secure a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Jerry Goldsmith, the director – who had worked with the respected composer on nine films over 20 years – said he was “flabbergasted” to realize Goldsmith didn’t already have one.

On May 9, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning composer of such classics as “Chinatown,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Patton” and dozens more will receive his star, posthumously, on Hollywood Boulevard just east of Highland Avenue. Goldsmith died in 2004.

Dante, for whom Goldsmith scored “Gremlins,” “Explorers,” “Innerspace” and other films, cited “his brilliance and versatility. Any film he scored was automatically improved tenfold.”

Few filmmakers would disagree. Paul Verhoeven, who did “Total Recall,” “Basic Instinct” and “Hollow Man” with Goldsmith, recalls: “Every film was a new adventure, as Jerry was able to adapt to the most diverse narratives and styles. He never repeated himself, always looking for new, »

The Mummy Inspired a Soccer Coach to Kill Her Dad

6 May 2017 3:10 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

A young woman claims the 2001 sequel to The Mummy 'told' her to kill her dad. Which she eventually did, stabbing the man. The indecent happened just as The Mummy is about to make a big comeback this summer in a new reboot starring Tom Cruise.

Former University of Pittsburgh soccer player Christina Nicassio killed her 69-year-old father, Dr. Anthony Nicassio, in cold blood, recounts a story in the Saturday edition of The New York Post. The 27-year-old woman says she was instructed to do the heinous deed while watching a copy of the 2001 sequel The Mummy Returns.

She reportedly plunged the knife deep into her father's body twice, leaving the knife lodged inside the man on the second thrust. This happened Saturday morning in Plum Borough around 3 am in the morning. The incident took place at the 900 block of Capri Court. The deceased man tried to grab the knife away »

New “The Mummy” Featurette Might Make you Care More About Seeing the Movie

Tom Cruise or no Tom Cruise, Princess Ahmanet or no Princess Ahmanet, I just can’t get on board to see The Mummy.  Unless Brendan Fraser miraculously becomes a part of this movie before its June 9th release then I’m afraid I’ll be waiting for it to come to TV, and even then I’ll give it about 10 minutes.  If I’m not totally convinced in those 10 minutes this is a movie worth watching, it’s being shelved permanently.  Nothing against Tom Cruise but come on.  This is Fraser’s territory. But I will say this.  This new teaser and featurette on Princess

The Mummy: Meet Princess Ahmanet In New Featurette

In the next month, Tom Cruise’s latest film, The Mummy will be hitting theaters across North America. It will be the latest iteration of the beloved Universal monster. Audiences were first introduced to the character of the Mummy back in the 1930s classic. Many folks in my generation, however, were exposed to the character in the 1999 reboot starring Brendan Fraser. But after that world was muddled with the two sequels, it was time for a change.

With this latest take on the classic monster, Universal will be kicking off a shared universe of iconic baddies that consist of Dracula, the Invisible Man, Mr. Hyde, and many others. This is the era of film that we live in, and given that we already have the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC Extended Universe, and the Kong-Godzilla MonsterVerse all on the big screen at various stages, you’d be forgiven for being »

Ahmanet Has A Plan For Us in the Latest Trailer for The Mummy

The Mummy reboot is well on its way!  Before it gets here, discover how Ahmanet became The Mummy!

If The Mummy is any indication of what is in store for us with the Monster Universe, Universal Pictures is creating, we could be in for something really fantastic.  The latest trailer for Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella's The Mummy shows just how real the threat is when Ahmanet is awakened!

This trailer, alone, makes the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies look like a campy misadventure.  While they were still fun, in their own right, they never felt as big as this one does.  Everything about the rebooted Mummy actually feels as if the world is in danger, not just Egypt.  I can't wait to see how it all pans out, and how the other monsters get introduced, at its theatrical release!

That release date will take place on June 9, 2017!
