• When Gump (Robin Dunne) is busted by the Trace-Buster-Buster-Buster, the name that is listed on his criminal record is Eric S. Potechin, the name of the second assistant director.
  
  
• Christina Applegate also had a gag in which she wore cucumbers over her eyes in 1991's Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991).
  
  
• As a practical joke on the set, Bokeem Woodbine, stuffed the front of his pants with socks for the scenes that took place in the gym locker room.
  
  

• The scene with the car chase through the forest was filmed in a public park in Pickering, Ontario, a small suburb near Toronto. Filming took about two weeks, during which the public was not allowed near the park. Residents of the town were understandably upset.

• In the original script, the Video Store Kid was only a voice heard over the phone. He was never seen until the end of the film. However, when Danny Smith was hired, it was decided to insert his scenes into the film and introduce him physically earlier.
