Parents Guide for
Antz (1998) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A little kissing between ants, some suggestive dancing and some sexual innuendo and talk about ant procreation.

It is implied that a female ant is raped by soldier male ant. However, we dont know for sure if this happens or not. We just hear her breifly moan once.

Z tells Weaver that he does not like to drink from a creature's anus (see Alchohol/Drugs/Smoking section for more details).

At one point in the film, Z tells Princess Bala that he was going to put her in some of his wildest erotic fantasies.

Violence & Gore

A battle between ants and monstrous, scary-looking termites leaves many ants and termites dead. During the battle ants climb onto termites and try to impale them with spears, while termites bite the ants and spray lethal acid (we see ants writhing in agony as they get sprayed). A decapitated ant can still talk and wonders what happened to his legs and body.

A magnifying glass is used to zap several ants (in a close-up we see one crumble after being burned to a crisp) and fly swatter is used to kill a wasp.

Two ants are trapped in a drop of water. The whole ant colony is threatened with extinction as water rushes into their underground tunnels.

An ant is tortured by other ants, by being punched in the face (his face is bruised).

A fistfight breaks out in a bar. A few scuffles and some slapping.

Profanity

Atleast 5 uses of hell, damn, and ass each. Also including one use of b1tch.

Several scatological terms, several anatomical terms and a few milder profanities.

One deity exclamation.

Ants are shown drinking "beer" by sucking on the body of an aphid (a small louse-like insect).

A wasp flies drunk after appearing from a discarded bottle (presumably of liquor).

Trapped in their new tunnel, the ants are surrounded by a flood and rising water and try to get out before they all drown. Younger kids may later be upset when it appears that Z has drowned, but of course he turns out to be okay.

An ant is shown after having his head seperated from his body during the battle with the termites. The ant dies shortly afterward in Z's arms. This scene is very disturbing.

There is a fairly intense scene where ants are shown being devoured by the termites during the war.
