Vicky talks about zodiac during lunch with Bobby's family, then Mama said astronomy is the tool of the devil. Zodiac is from astrology, not astronomy.

When reporting on the final game, the ESPN announcer mentions that it is "the inaugural Bourbon Bowl". Yet in the next scene, a patch that reads "The Bourbon Bowl 50th Anniversary 1948-1998" is clearly sewn onto the football jersey worn by Bobby Boucher.

Late in the Bourbon Bowl, the electronic scoreboard shows that the Mud Dogs have two timeouts left. Later in the same half, the scoreboard reads that the Mud Dogs have three timeouts left (which we know can't be right since we see the team call a time-out at least once earlier in the half).

On the last play of the Bourbon Bowl, Bobby throws a pass to the quarterback for the winning touchdown. The QB is running down the left sideline looking over his right shoulder, and reaches back to catch the pass with his left hand, while beginning to fall on his left side. But in the next shot, shown from beyond the endzone, he is seen falling on his right side.

On the final play of the game, Bobby's team snaps the ball at midfield where he recovered the onside kick. The penalty for the late hit on Bobby have not been marked off. The announcers even mention that the Mud Dogs will not be kicking a field goal for the tie, but play to win. A field goal without the yardage from the penalty would have been in excess of 60 yards.

Factual errors

In the Bourbon Bowl, on the opening kickoff, the clock starts before the kick returner touches the ball. However, the clock isn't supposed to start until the kick returner advances the ball beyond the goal line.

On the final play of the game against Iowa (the game that put the Mud Dogs into the Bourbon Bowl) Bobby picks off the field goal attempt in midair and runs it back for the seemingly winning touchdown. However, he begins to slide into the end zone around the 2 or 3 yard line. In college football, the runner is down when his knee touches the ground. The touchdown should not have counted.

Bobby was injured on the second last play of the Bourbon Bowl, resulting in an injury timeout, but then stayed in for the next play (the final one of the game). Under NCAA rules, an injured player must sit out out least one play immediately following the resulting injury timeout, unless his team elects to use of their timeouts. According to the scoreboard, the Muddogs did have one timeout remaining, but didn't use it. It is possible that the officials could have automatically charged the Muddogs their final timeout, making the final play possible, but there is no indication that they did this in the film.
