Continuity: In the background of the scene where Bobby finds Vicky working on his lawnmower, a man wearing a yellow shirt appears and disappears several times throughout the scene.
Continuity: When Red Beaulieu fires Bobby, Bobby is leaning on a water bucket. When the camera comes back to Bobby, the bucket is gone.
Continuity: In the bowl game Bobby is thrown a hand-off underhand. The position his hands were in when they left the football, there was no way that it could have come out as a spiral.
Continuity: Bobby has an underbite during the first part of the movie until he gets his first tackle.
Crew or equipment visible: Reflected in player's helmets throughout the movie.
Errors in geography: In a couple of scenes, local law enforcement is shown wearing uniforms that say "County Sheriff" on them, though in reality, Louisiana has no counties, only parishes.
Continuity: When reporting on the final game, the ESPN announcer mentions that it is "the inaugural Bourbon Bowl". Yet in the next scene, a patch that reads "The Bourbon Bowl 50th Anniversary 1948-1998" is clearly sewn onto the football jersey worn by Bobby Boucher.
Revealing mistakes: While showing the Lousiana State cheerleaders, the mascot drinks from a bottle of alcohol with the cap still on.
Continuity: When Bobby finishes his exam and is walking out of the building with Vicky, there is a poster in the window of the door, which has disappeared by the next shot.
Continuity: When Bobby is given a waterboy job for Coach Klein, Coach is holding a blue cup. In the next scene, Bobby is holding it.
Continuity: In the final game, the overhead view of the Stadium clearly shows grandstands at each end of the field, but screen shots during the game from the field show no grandstands behind the goals.
Continuity: Late in the Bourbon Bowl, the electronic scoreboard shows that the Mud Dogs have two timeouts left. Later in the same half, the scoreboard reads that the Mud Dogs have three timeouts left (which we know can't be right since we see the team call a time-out at least once earlier in the half).
Continuity: During the outdoor dinner with Bobby, Vicki, and Mama, jars and bottles on the table appear and disappear.
Continuity: While Bobby and Vikki are talking outside LT's football camp, the same red mini-van drives by in the background twice.
Continuity: As Coach Klein sits down when feeling lightheaded, a curved line appears on the chalkboard.
Factual errors: In the Bourbon Bowl, on the opening kickoff, the clock starts before the kick returner touches the ball. However, the clock isn't supposed to start until the kick returner advances the ball beyond the goal line.
Continuity: On the last play of the Bourbon Bowl, Bobby throws a pass to the quarterback for the winning touchdown. The QB is running down the left sideline looking over his right shoulder, and reaches back to catch the pass with his left hand, while beginning to fall on his left side. But in the next shot, shown from beyond the endzone, he is seen falling on his right side.
Continuity: When Derek kicks the field goal in the Bourbon Bowl game, as the ball crosses the goal posts, the scoreboard clearly shows the score being 17-0. The very next shot shows the "correct" score as 27-17.
Continuity: During the backyard barbecue at the Bouchers', the size and shape of the bruise on Bobby's eye changes during the course of the scene.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Derek gives Bobby his helmet, Casey calls Bobby a dink, but his mouth doesn't move.
Continuity: On the final play of the game, Bobby's team snaps the ball at midfield where he recovered the onside kick. The penalty for the late hit on Bobby have not been marked off. The announcers even mention that the Mud Dogs will not be kicking a field goal for the tie, but play to win. A field goal without the yardage from the penalty would have been in excess of 60 yards.
Factual errors: When ESPN reports on the first game against Western Mississippi, they show SCLSU on top row of the box score, even though it was a home game for the Muddogs. Home teams are always listed in the bottom row of the box score.
Factual errors: On the final play of the game against Iowa (the game that put the Mud Dogs into the Bourbon Bowl) Bobby picks off the field goal attempt in midair and runs it back for the seemingly winning touchdown. However, he begins to slide into the end zone around the 2 or 3 yard line. In college football, the runner is down when his knee touches the ground. The touchdown should not have counted.
Errors in geography: At the beginning of the movie they show Altell Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but in the filming locations, Jacksonville is not listed.
Revealing mistakes: When Mud Dogs' stadium is first seen, the goal posts are of high school width. College width for the uprights is narrower, same as the NFL.
Crew or equipment visible: The film was shot open-matte. Consequently, in the 4:3 full-frame version of the movie, there are multiple instances of camera tracks becoming visible at the bottom of the screen.
Factual errors: There was a stoppage of play on the second to the last play of the game. Bobby got hurt and they had an injury timeout. In reality, any time a player is injured to the degree that they require an injury timeout, by rule the injured player must sit out out least one play immediately after the play in which the injury occurs. Instead they draw up a play and Bobby is in the game the very next play.
