Trivia

In the German version of this film, Adam Sandler is not dubbed by Dietmar Wunder as usual. Instead, the German Disney subsidiary used comedian Matthias Knop to perform the dubbing. At the time, Knop was successful with his character "Super-Ritchie" (a kind of extremely dumb-minded version of Superman) and he performed the dubbing in the same manner of speech as his "Super-Ritchie" character. The film was widely panned by critics and audiences alike and the dubbing is regarded as one of the worst in history. See more »

Goofs

When Bobby first meets Coach Klein, the coach is drawing up a play on the chalkboard and describing it. One team is represented by Os, and that is the team on the upper part of the chalkboard, and they are moving the ball downwards. Coach Klein uses the terms "left" and "right" from his perspective looking at the board, however football plays are always described in terms of the direction the offense is facing. So he is using totally backwards directions in describing the play. See more »

Sandler's best since Billy Madison
30 April 2000 | by See all my reviews

I really liked the Waterboy. It was crude, raw, and utterly funny. Adam Sandler gives his funniest yet since his 1995 cult hit Billy Madison. In this feel good movie, Sandler plays a dumb waterboy who gets on a football team and becomes a damn good tackler. Everything in this film is funny, from beginning to end. Henry Winkler has his best in years as a down on his luck coach and Kathy Bates is Dead Pan funny as mama. Great all around. A+
