Honey – review

18 July 2011 1:22 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

AA Milne's Pooh Bear is one of the thickest, most tedious characters in fiction, but elsewhere in the movies apiarists and honey collectors are a mysterious, obsessive collection of individuals. One thinks of the taciturn father in Víctor Erice's Spirit of the Beehive, Marcello Mastroianni in Theo Angelopoulos's The Bee Keeper, Michel Piccoli in Louis Malle's Milou en mai and Peter Fonda's Oscar-nominated performance in Ulee's Gold. Honey (aka Bal) is the concluding film in Semih Kaplanoglu's The Yusuf Trilogy, about a boy growing up in rural north-eastern Turkey where his father keeps bees in hives at the top of tall trees in the nearby forest and supports his young wife and little son by collecting honey. The six-year-old Yusuf, a serious, introspective boy through whose large, expressive eyes the world is presented, has a serious stammer that sets him apart from most of those around him, »

Peter Fonda weds Margaret 'Parky' DeVogelaere in Hawaii

21 June 2011 8:10 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

One half of the Fonda acting dynasty middle generation has wed for a third time. Peter Fonda, 71, son of screen legend Henry Fonda and younger brother of Jane Fonda, wed Margaret "Parky" DeVogelaere, 57, in Hawaii on Father's Day (June 19).

This is Fonda's third marriage. His first marriage, to Susan Brewer, was from 1961 to 1972 and produced actress Bridget Fonda. Peter's second marriage was to Portia Crockett and lasted from 1975 until earlier 2011, though that divorce is more of a formality, as new bride Margaret has been his companion for years.

Fonda is best known for his turn as biker Wyatt in the 1969 film "Easy Rider." He was nominated for an Oscar in 1997 for "Ulee's Gold" and was most recently seen on "CSI: NY." Congratulations to Peter and Margaret. »
