Two real world deaths after filming prompted edits to the movie. Mentions of both Princess Diana and the designer Versace were made in the film because they were both alive when the film was made but both died before its release.
In the photo shoot scene, the girls dress up as the same women that they sung about in their song, "The Lady Is A Vamp".
This film is listed among the 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made in Golden Raspberry Award founder John WIlson's book THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE® MOVIE GUIDE.
On 14 July 2014, the original bus used in this movie was placed on permanent display at Island Harbour Marina, on the Isle of Wight, England.
Gary Glitter filmed a four-minute cameo appearance as himself but shortly before the film was to be released he was arrested on child porn offenses . The Spice Girls and the production team agreed that his cameo should be deleted from the final print.
In the photography scene the girls dress up as various characters which include: Jacqueline Kennedy; Charlie's Angels; Danny and Sandy from Grease (1978); Wonder Woman; Madonna; a mod girl who resembles Twiggy; and a James Bond girl. Additionally, the girls dress up as each other: Victoria dresses as Baby Spice; Mel B as Ginger Spice; Mel C as Posh Spice; Emma as Scary Spice; and Geri as Sporty Spice. Geri also dresses up like Marilyn Monroe.
"Spice Force Five" bears many similarities to the fictional television pilot "Fox Force Five" from the movie Pulp Fiction.
Among the many in-jokes (which may become obscured by the mists of time) is Dennis saying, when asked to fix the toilets, that he'd do anything for the girls, "but I won't do that!" - a reference to Meat Loaf's single, "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)".
The movie (which follows a similar style to The Beatles' movie A Hard Day's Night (1964)) has the tagline, "You say you want a revolution?" which is a line in The Beatles' 1968 song "Revolution".

In the scene where The Spice Girls jump their bus over the toll bridge the movie creators made an animated scene of the Spice Bus jumping and added pre-recorded vocals of the girls screaming as jumping a vehicle over a toll bridge is dangerous in real life. A slide whistle cartoon sound effect can clearly be heard when the bus jumps.
