Interesting documentary about the gay porn movie industry. They talk to
actors and director about how they prepare, why they do this and their
feelings about it all. It's not all good--it's sometimes dull (despite
the subject matter) and this was shot on no budget (and shows). Also it
sort of meandered--there was no clear cut view. The highlight was with
Blue Blake--once a porn star, now a writer and director. You see
him--um--"performing" with a guy--he's in pain but he has to act like
he's enjoying it. Also his talks about the industry are interesting--he
comes across as a likable, intelligent guy--NOT what you expect from a
porn actor. It also ends with a director saying why he does these
movies--and it's actually quite touching.
There isn't much hard-core footage--only enough to get the point across. In Blake's scene we never even SEE the guy he's with! Gay men might find this interesting (I did) but it might be a bit much for others. But--name one other movie about this. I give it a 6.
Some of the information was a bit gross and I thought it was really amusing to watch the behind the scenes peak. It is focussed on Chi Chi La Rue and Gino Colbert productions. It would be interesting to see a remake by Falcon or His Studios to get an unbiased perspective of porn studio. It is definitely recommended for those who enjoy porn videos and want to know more, but be warned it may shatter delusions of porn forever.
This is a fun look at what really goes on during a porn shoot. Blue Blake is the most informative and the most intelligent of all participants - very well-spoken and articulate. Directors Chi Chi LaRue and Gino Colbert are more matter of fact in their bits and pieces of info. Hunter Scott is a hoot in the douching scene. Here are the realities of the hard work and dedication surrounding the capture of fantasy images for the multi-million dollar gay porn video industry. One thing to say for those involved - they all seem to be having great fun at what they're doing. Worth a watch.
Even though this is a documentary on the gay porn industry, a little restraint would have been welcome. Did we really need to see Hunter Scott give himself an enema? Too much information!!
