Storyline

Romy and Michelle have been through it all including being tortured by the Popular crowd when in high school. When they receive word of a 10 year reunion, they come to realize their lives aren't as impressive as they'd like them to be. Instead of staying home they go to the reunion with business outfits, cell phones, and one heck of a bogus success story. Written by Movie Guy-27

Trivia

The red blouse that Lisa Kudrow wears when she enters the Versace store is the same one worn by Courteney Cox (her cast mate from Friends (1994)) at the end of _Scream (1996)_. See more »

Goofs

At the "dream" reunion, the Mercedes limousine changes from one with two moon roofs, then with a shorter limo with one moon roof, and back again. When Romy is hit by Sandy's limousine, the rear window is blacked out by window tint, but the tint disappears moments later when Romy and Sandy are shown in the back of the limo. When the cars appear inside the reunion, Sandy's limousine now has blanked rear door opera windows and a smaller back window (additionally, the trunk mounted television antenna that Romy knocked off before entering the reunion has now re-appeared). As the limousine exits the building, it is back to the longer, dual moon-roof model seen earlier with the trunk-mounted television antenna missing again. See more »

Quotes

[looking at yearbook pictures]
Romy: Well we definitely weren't in the A group, but you know, we weren't really in the B group either.
Michele: Oh my god! We weren't in the C group were we?
Romy: Oh god no, that was, like, all the losers and honor students, like Sandy Frink and Heather Mooney.
Michele: So, Romy, what group WERE we in?
Romy: Well, we weren't really in a group, we were more like loners. Oh look! There we are!
Michele: Yeah, and alone.

It is about two silly girls from an American high school.
7 August 2008 | by (FIPRESCI/Cinema of the world) – See all my reviews

In recent times many films have been made about the boring lives of American teenagers. If there is one film which has the ability to stand apart from a huge crowd of inane Hollywood teen pictures,it is surely Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. It is a perfect film which does not hesitate in attacking fake American values prevalent in high schools. It is a known fact that there is too much pressure on American high school children to succeed in all realms of life. There are many people who become a part of this system. There are some like Romy and Michelle who decide to follow their own paths.Hollywood director David Mirkin has directed a nice film about these two girls who do not take their lives seriously. It is through a great soundtrack that we are showed a not so rosy picture of the lives of disillusioned souls like Romy and Michelle. It is a nice film which teaches us that people can be happy with what they are.One has to remain true to oneself if one wants to be respected.Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino look fabulous as Romy and Michelle.
