Sex & Nudity

  • There is one brief but quite explicit sex scene (though no nudity is shown). In another scene, the same two characters are shown semi-naked in bed. The woman's breast is clearly visible. In a scene about 15 minutes into the movie - a naked man is crouched naked beside a few dead animals. You see his genitalia for about 1 second, but not very clearly and not explicitly.

Violence & Gore

  • There are a few scenes of trench warfare;most are not very graphic except one where a dead soldier's eyeball is seen. In another scene, a soldier is shot in the head - only a little blood is shown.

Profanity

  • There is little profanity except for one scene in the trenches; a soldier in a state of shock exclaims 'Jesus f***ing Christ'. A few mild swear words in other scenes.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One scene is set in a pub where soldiers and munitionettes are drinking and fraternising. A few scenes involving smoking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A few harrowing scenes; a man is seen suffering from shell-shock, covered in the blood of small dead animals which are suspended from trees (the animals are blurred, not clearly visible). Another man is brutally cured of his muteness by electric shock therapy; some of the battle scenes are quite intense including the 'eyeball' scene. Some haunting imagery such as dead bodies strewn across a canal.
