Some actors/stuntmen from MK1 now had an acting part. They are:

Keith Cooke: Reptile, now Sub-Zero/Stunts.

J.J. Perry: Fight double, now Scorpion/Cyrax/Noob Saibot/Stunts

Dennis Keiffer: Stunts, now Baraka/Stunts

Dana Hee: Stunt double, now Mileena/Stunts

Mark Caso: Stunt double, now Raptor/Stunts

Some main crewmen were replaced.

The director was now John R. Leonetti who did cinematography for MK1.

Pat Johnson who choreographed stunts in MK1 was replaced by John Medlen and was now a 2nd unit director.

Robin Shou was still fight choreographer.

The movie was released with the ending as we know it. Shao Kahn being defeated in battle by Liu Kang and Shinnok being imprisoned by the remaining Elder Gods. The original ending however had Quan Chi freeing and working together with Shinnok, which would lead us to MK3.

So, the released movie had no open ending, but the original plan was to release it with an open ending.

MK: Annihilation had a lot of visitors because of the popularity of the franchise, but the majority didn't like the movie. Reasons for not liking the movie are:

* Replacing the director.

* Replacing the most popular actors.

* The movie being very short compared to MK1.

* Too many characters with too little screentime.

* Not enough fights or too short fights.

* The childish atmosphere. Resembled 'Power Rangers'.

* Too many special effects compared to MK1.

Due to it being a bomb it probably didn't help anyone. The movie did however have 2 stuntpeople who are now very famous and will be remembered for having their first stuntpart in this film.

They were: Tony Jaa who doubled for Robin Shou (Liu Kang) and Ray Park who doubled for Robin Shou (Liu Kang), James Remar (Rayden, both versions) and played both a Tarkatan warrior and a Raptor.

Robin Shou: Acted as Liu Kang and did fight choreoraphy.

Keith H. Cooke: Acted as Sub-Zero and did stunts.

J.J. Perry: Acted as Scorpion, Cyrax and Noob Saibot and did stunts.

John Medlen: Acted as Ermac, did stunts and stunt-coordinating.

Tyrone Wiggins: Acted as Rain and stunt doubled for Jax.

Ridley Tsui: Acted as Smoke, did stunts and stunt coordinating.

Dennis Keiffer: Acted as Baraka and did stunts.

Dana Hee: Acted as Mileena and stunt double for Kitana.

Ray Park: Acted as a Raptor and Tarkatan, doubled Liu Kang and Rayden.

Mark Caso: Acted as a Raptor and doubled for Rayden and Cyrax.

Theo Kypri: Acted as a stunt ninja and doubled for Subzero and Liu Kang.

In the first movie, the actors did more of their own stunts. In this film, more doubles were used. Some actors even had multiple doubles:
