New Clips from Shadow People

19 March 2013 6:06 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Today sees the Blu-ray/DVD release of Shadow People, starring The Walking Dead’s Dallas Roberts. If you’re interested in learning more about the movie, check out two clips and real life claims of shadow people encounters.

“They are known by many names in many cultures. In Persia they are called “Bakhtak.” In Japan, they are the “Kanashibari.” In Mexico they’re called the “Subirse el Muerto” and the “Suk Ninmyo” in New Guinea. In America, they are known as “Shadow People.” They are very real, yet no one who has seen them have lived to describe them. Are you willing to believe? Victims report waking from sleep to find themselves paralyzed, a noise buzzing in their head, while a shadowy figure stands watches them, or sometimes even climbs onto their bed. The sightings are widespread around the globe for centuries, but many are afraid to talk about their encounters. »

Blu-ray, DVD Release: Shadow People

18 March 2013 3:00 PM, PDT | Disc Dish | See recent Disc Dish news »

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: March 19, 2013

Price: DVD $22.98, Blu-ray $24.99

Studio: Anchor Bay

Dallas Roberts (TV’s The Walking Dead) and Alison Eastwood (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) star in the 2011 supernatural thriller Shadow People .

Shadow People is based on a true story about small town radio personality Charlie Crowe (Roberts), who unravels a conspiracy about encounters with mysterious beings–shadowy figures who stand near people who see them, and sometimes even climb into the beds of those they stalk. These “Shadow People” were the cause of hundreds of unexplained deaths.  He encounters Cdc Epidemic Intelligence Agent Sophie Lancombe (Eastwood), whose investigations entwine her with Charlie’s own discoveries leading them both into a dark world and a decades old cover-up.

The film explores the actual historical evidence of these occurrences and the real phenomenon of an inverse placebo effect, where the mind can actually kill the body through false belief. »

Photos + Recap: Savannah Stopover

15 March 2013 10:00 AM, PDT | Pastemagazine.com | See recent PasteMagazine news »

When asked if she considers herself a southern belle, the tattooed-and-pierced barista at the Coffee Fox downtown responded without missing a swirl on her cappuccino foam art, “Of course, sugar.” Savannah Stopover festival, much like its budding city, is a good example of this traditional-meets-indie mix. In its third year, the festival has grown from hosting 30 bands to over 100, all the while keeping the vibe of an intimate affair. Savannah, which you may know from its appearances in Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, can be understood, at least in a general sense, »

Jude Law on phone hacking, being 40 and his new film Side Effects

3 March 2013 4:06 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

The actor has long had a fraught relationship with the media and their intrusions on his private life. As he promotes his new film with Steven Soderbergh, he talks about life post-Leveson and his love of theatre

'I'm 40! I'm an adult!" shouts Jude Law. "Aren't I?" We hold these truths to be self-evident, I reply, as the actor, laughing, stares across the table with those adorable baby blues and more hair than's fair. "But," he says more quietly, "part of me thinks I can't play a doctor. Who would come to me?"

You've got to be kidding. Who wouldn't come to Dr Jude? In Steven Soderbergh's film Side Effects, Law plays an Englishman in New York, a slimy limey of a pill-dispensing psychiatrist who becomes entangled in murder, drug switcheroos, a risible lesbian insider trading scam and lots more vaguely voguish, putatively Hitchkockian hokum before the credits. 'Beautiful Creatures': Meet the cast, and Emma Thompson's accent -- Exclusive Video

25 January 2013 5:00 AM, PST | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Yes, up-and-comers Alice Englert (pictured) and Alden Ehrenreich play the protagonists of Beautiful Creatures, a young adult southern gothic tale that’s like a cross between Twilight and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. (So the time is… I don’t know, around 9 p.m.?)

But the real star of the film may turn out to be Emma Thompson — who’s clearly  having a blast playing the campy “Bible-thumping bigot” Mrs. Lincoln.

Thompson’s over-the-top southern accent is the best part of this exclusive featurette, which introduces Beautiful Creatures’s main players and teases the main beats of its plot. »
