No. Men in Black is taken from a script by Ed Solomon, who based the screenplay on a Marvel comic book series called The Men in Black by American writer Lowell Cunningham. There are two sequels: Men in Black II (2002) and Men in Black III (2012).

It wasn't all the way dead. He just blew it in half, but the half with the head was still alive. Not too uncommon with bugs.
