Rick Moranis' final live-action role before leaving acting.
The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release during the 1996 holiday season. However, because Disney was having success with animated direct to video films, the studio chose this film as the first live action direct to video movie.
The first "Honey" movie to get a direct-to-video release.
The only film in the "Honey..." series to not have an animated opening credit sequence.
The film takes place 8 years after Honey I Blew Up the Kid (1992). In this film, Adam is 10 and was 2 years old in the previous film.

(at around 20 mins) The phrase "Honey, we shrunk ourselves" is never actually said in the film. Instead, Diane asks Wayne "Are we shrunk?" to which Wayne replies "I'm not going to lie, yes we are."

(at around 15 mins) When Wayne and Gordon first uncover the shrinking machine, the opening chime from the theme tune of Back to the Future (1985) can be heard. This film's director Dean Cundey was the director of photography of Back to the Future (1985), Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Back to the Future Part III (1990)

at around 1h 4 mins) When Gordon is pretending to be God in order to get the kids' attention, he asks Ricky King "How come I know you live on Sycamore?". Sycamore is the name of the street that the Szalinski family lived on in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), possibly implying that the family still lives in the same area in this film. However, the second film in the series, Honey I Blew Up the Kid (1992), showed that the family had moved to the suburbs of Las Vegas, Nevada.
