Alex continues to outwit the four bandits with his makeshift boobytraps. Meanwhile, the FBI has gotten word from the recruiting center that Alex is in possession of the computer chip, so they travel to Chicago where they meet up with Karen, Molly, and Stan at school to inform them that Alex may be in danger for intercepting "a top secret electronic device stolen from a defense department contractor by a group of international criminals working for a North Korean terrorist organization." A short time later, just after Alex has rescued Mrs Hess from freezing to death in the garage, a parade of FBI vehicles, police cars, and a fire engine, all led by two snowplows because of the heavy snowfall, come barreling down Washington Street. Alex rushes outside into his Mom's arms and hands over the computer chip to the FBI. The police arrest Alice, Jernigan, and Unger, but Beaupre managed to slip away and hide in the igloo in the backyard. Stan's parrot drives the remote control car into the igloo and hops onto a shelf that, for the first time, Beaupre notices is lined with firecrackers. When the parrot pulls out a match, Beaupre offers it a cracker, but the parrot asks for two. Beaupre only has the one, so the parrot lights the match and sets off the firecrackers, alerting the police to his hiding place. Later that night, Alex's dad comes back from Cleveland, bearing a present for Alex...a remote control car. Meanwhile, at the police station, the bandits are having their mug shots taken. Their faces are covered with chicken pox.
