Clooney Fails To Humiliate Damon

27 November 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

George Clooney tried to embarrass his Ocean's Eleven co-star Matt Damon - by placing an newspaper advert appealing for people to vote him 'The Sexiest Man Alive'. The cheeky actor wanted to humiliate Damon by insinuating the Good Will Hunting star was hunting for votes in America's People magazine's poll. George, famed for his good looks himself, tried to place an ad in movie publication Variety reading, 'For Your Consideration: Matt Damon for Sexiest Man Alive.' Clooney laughs, "I knew it would kill Matt if people thought he was lobbying for it," but there was one small problem. "Variety wouldn't accept it," Clooney sighs, "even though I kept telling them it was just for fun." »

Matt Damon To Star In Low-budget Flick

17 May 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Matt Damon is set to shoot a low-budget movie called Jerry for British film company Filmfour. Details of the project are currently under wraps, but the actor is re-teaming with his Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant for the project - with a quoted budget of just $7 million. The movie will star Damon and Casey Affleck in a story described by one distributor as "two guys in the desert". No script has been given out, but there will be a strong element of improvisation, recalling Van Sant's early style with films, such as Drugstore Cowboy. »

Acclaimed Movie Maker Wants To Make Hanson Film

16 January 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Director Gus Van Sant is begging boyband Hanson to let him follow them around - to make a film about them. The movie maker is keen to make a "Hard Day's Night type film" with the three brothers Isaac, Zac and Taylor after working with them on the video for their single "Weird". Van Sant says, "I became a fan of their's right around the time Good Will Hunting (1997) came out, and I had wanted to make a film, like a Spice Girls movie, with Hanson. It would be really great to have one of these movies that's more a vehicle for a band and be something that's actually really good. It would be like a surprise. The model was always Hard Day's Night, A (1964), and I did pitch it to Hanson, but they were really busy and in the end we ended up doing a video. It's still possible." »
