Top 5 Matt Damon Roles

14 June 2016 8:00 AM, PDT | Cineplex | See recent Cineplex news »

We’ve been fans of Matt Damon since the beginning, when he was a fresh-faced kid from Boston with a killer instinct for acting. Now he’s won an Oscar, and he's been nominated three more times since.

Damon started off by doing dramatic roles that put him on the map: Good Will Hunting, Saving Private Ryan… movies of that ilk. He quickly established himself as one of the most appealing leading men in Hollywood, and became involved in such iconic projects as Ocean’s Eleven and The Bourne Identity.

There are few other actors in the business that can be relied upon to turn out crowd-pleaser after crowd-pleaser like Matt Damon. It looks like his good-luck streak will continue this month with Jason Bourne, the fifth Bourne film in the series and Damon’s fourth time portraying the amnesiac special agent.

We’ve rounded up five of our favourite Matt Damon roles in time for Jason Bourne, and we think we’ve got all the essentials covered. Check out the list below and catch Jason Bourne in Cineplex theatres July 29th.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's bromance is alive and well. On Saturday night, the lifelong pals attended the Guys Choice Awards in La, where they received the Guys of the Decade award. Ben - who recently returned from London - was clearly in a good mood as he joked on stage, saying, "I think it goes without saying that this is an award Matt and I have been dreaming about since we were little boys. I did Gigli and Matt did that Liberace movie, and all of a sudden it all seemed out of reach. Then I did [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] and all of a sudden it was back in reach again. Now we're the . . . coveted Dudes of the Decade . . . the Guys of the D*ckheads? What is it?" "No, the D*ckheads of the Decade award," Matt responded. In addition to their special honor, Matt and Ben sat together in the audience, »

Watch: Matt Damon Returns to MIT to Give 2016 Commencement Speech

3 June 2016 11:33 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Nearly 20 years after Good Will Hunting, Matt Damon has returned to MIT aka Massachusetts Institute of Technology (although, to be fair, much of Gus Van Sant‘s film was shot at the University of Toronto). Rather than a mop in hand, the actor has given a commencement address to this year’s graduating class in which he touched on everything from villainous bankers to Donald Trump to his Hollywood experience.

This world has some problems that we need you to drop everything and solve,” he said. “So go ahead and take your pick from the world’s worst buffet: economic inequality, how about the refugee crisis, massive global insecurity, climate change, pandemics, institutional racism, nativism, fear-driven brains working overtime.”

Check out his full speech below and see Steven Spielberg‘s recent Harvard speech here. We’ve also included a deleted scene from The Martian, which will get an extended edition release next week. »

Geoff Johns Praises Ben Affleck’s Work On The Batman, Says “He’s Amazing”

25 May 2016 7:42 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Just a day after Ben Affleck showered praise on his The Batman co-writer Geoff Johns, the comic book scribe has returned the favour during an appearance yesterday evening on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The DC Entertainment Chief Content Officer was there to promote the release of DC Rebirth #1, but talk quickly turned to the Dark Knight’s next solo outing.

Asked what it’s been like to work with Affleck (who is also expected to direct) on The Batman, Johns said:

“He’s amazing, but he’s amazing at dialogue. When he reads the dialogue I just sit there going ‘Wow, I’m talking to Batman!'”

Considering the fact that the filmmaker once won an Oscar for his writing (Good Will Hunting), that probably shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, and the combination of his top notch dialogue and Johns’ comic book knowledge does make »

Breaking News: Blumhouse & Miramax are Partnering with Malek Akkad & John Carpenter on the next Halloween

23 May 2016 9:01 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Some days, I really have to pinch myself, because getting the opportunity to be at tonight’s Halloween announcement is easily one of the coolest moments I’ve had in the seven years I’ve lived in California.

Last week, I received a mysterious call from Josh Raffel at Blumhouse Productions, who invited me to a secretive event to be held tonight, May 23rd, and other than providing me with a time, that’s all the information I was given. Once I arrived tonight, along with a select group of journalists, the mystery was finally revealed with the announcement of a new partnership behind a brand new Halloween, which is bringing together Miramax, Blumhouse Productions, Trancas International’s Malek Akkad (longtime producer of the Halloween franchise), as well as legendary Master of Horror John Carpenter in an executive producer role for the film. And if all goes well, Jason Blum »

How do you solve a problem like Zack Snyder?

20 May 2016 12:20 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It’s a question that divides many. Some don’t even believe it needs answering, particularly those who defended Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice against the legions of critics and fans who heaped scorn on it. Warner Bros themselves didn’t think it was a question at all, given how shocked the studio were that people *gasp* didn’t lap up Zack Snyder’s confrontation between the world’s two most famous and beloved superheroes. Batman v Superman infamously has been described, in terms of box office, as underwhelming at best and a flop at worst. The latter is somewhat hysterical – Snyder’s picture has still made almost $900 million worldwide. Not so long ago that would have made it a record breaking, monster hit.

Now we live in the post – Fast & Furious 7 world where every major franchise film with the budget BvS had is expected to clear a cool billion. »

Daniel and Mary Lou Perelmutter claim that they purchased the property in 2014 with the intention of building a home on it, only to have Driver harass them and stymie their efforts.
