Character error

When O'Neil exits the Hummer upon arriving at base, she closes the door behind her but the door does not latch shut. You can see it swinging back open just as the vehicle is leaving the cameras view.

Continuity

When the submarine on which the SEALs sail dives, it is shown as an Ohio class missile sub. When it is submerged, it turns into some other sub. Before the team surfaces, it has switched back to an Ohio.

When the first trainees are jumping out of the helicopter into the water for the S.E.R.E. training course, the sun is shown just rising over the horizon. However, the shadow cast by the helicopter's tail (viewed from inside the helicopter) indicates that the sun is instantly much higher.

Near the end, when the helicopters are flying in to support the soldiers, it is possible to see in at least one shot that the Cobra helicopter's rocket pods are empty (the sun shines through the tubes from the back). Later, the same Cobra is shown firing its rockets, even though this would not be possible.

After CMDCM Urgayle (Viggo Mortensen), is shot in combat, he is seen with an elbow crutch before congratulating his trainees. However, this elbow crutch seems to disappear as he is seen using both hands (one to hand out the CRT qualification insignia, the other to shake hands) right after, without the support of someone, or otherwise ridding himself of the elbow crutch.

In Urgayle's first scene, he gets in the face of the man who laughs. From one camera angle, the bill of Urgayle's hat is above the man's, and from the other it is below.

Errors in geography

In the briefing for the Libya landing, the coast is shown as southern (sea south of the land). Libya has no southern coast, the entire country lying South of the Med. The maps could conceivably have been drawn "South up" but this is against all military (and geographical) convention and unlikely in the extreme.

Factual errors

When Command Master Chief Urgayle is sitting with his sniper rifle and watching Cortez helping Jordan over the wall, the angle is wrong. When Cortez drops Jordan, Urgayle sees this from O'Neil's vantage point.

Trainees that pass hell week are issued brown t-shirts to make it clear that they now passed it. In the newspaper photo, O'Neill and the others still wear white-shirts, which shows that they haven't completed hell week.

In the closing combat sequence, the Cobra gunships use totally unrealistic tactics against the pursuing Libyan troops. Rather than use the Gatling cannons, which are most effective against individual troops, they fire rockets, which are better suited for use against tanks, hardened defensive positions, and large gatherings of troops.

If O'Neil was to be accepted into the Combined Reconnaissance Teams, she would need to have already become a certified SEAL which obviously wouldn't have been possible. Also, other characters talk about "Hell Week" which is solely a term used in the Navy SEALs.

Miscellaneous

At the beginning of the first course it is stated "12 minutes or less" is what is need to pass that part of the training. Yet Cortez finishes in 13:10 and Jordan finishes after him. Even with a 30 second deduction for all females in training, still doesn't put her under the 12 minutes she needs to pass the course.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

The trainees are part of a Combined Reconnaissance Team (CRT); hence, the training is not identical to Navy SEAL training, as it combines elements from all the branches.
