One Year Later, I Still Miss Robin Williams

11 August 2015 3:00 AM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

It was August 11, 2014. The theater was full with an advance screening of The Giver starring Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. The red carpet event was live-streamed prior to the showing as stars from the film flooded in and entered the New York City party while we, in Knoxville, Tenn., gazed at the screen.

I checked my phone for the time and came across a message on the screen.

“Actor Robin Williams found dead at his home. He was 63.”

A friend put it best when he said that hearing the news of Williams’s passing surprised him with grief.

It did the same for me.

Now, to this point, Robin Williams was just another face (or voice) on the screen to me. An actor who had given life to Genie in Aladdin, the main character of Flubber, and was Mrs. Doubtfire. Nothing of note, but fun most of the time.

16 April 2015 7:13 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

A life-long fan of Robin Williams has scored a viral hit with his impersonations of the late actor.

Jamie Costa - a young actor with a resemblance to Williams - has passed 2 million hits in just four days on YouTube.

In the video, he channels Williams's performances in films like Flubber, Mrs Doubtfire and Good Morning, Vietnam.

Costa wrote underneath the video: "My tribute to the man whose spark ignited my passion. Rip Robin Williams."

He also performs a scene from Good Will Hunting, the film which earned Williams an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Costa isn't just a Williams impressionist, and has posted videos of himself impersonating Indiana Jones, Owen Wilson and Matthew McConaughey.

It recently emerged that Williams made plans to restrict the use of his image after his death. »

Robin Williams Impersonator Nails 18 Different Characters in Viral Tribute (Video)

15 April 2015 9:44 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Robin Williams died in August, but his spirit is very much alive in the heart of actor Jamie Costa, who is garnering online acclaim for nailing spot-on impersonations of 18 characters Williams played over the course of his career. The South Carolina-based performer not only sounds just like Williams as he channels Peter Pan from “Hook,” Euphegenia Doubtfire from “Mrs. Doubtfire” and Professor Philip Brainard from “Flubber” (to name a few), he looks just like the late actor, from the hair to the facial expressions. Costa’s YouTube video “Never Had a Friend Like Him” has attracted over 1.3 million views since being published. »
