As the gates to "Halloween Horror Nights" open, so too does the annual Purge begin at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort with the debut of a terrifying new scarezone, The Purge: Anarchy, inspired by Universal Pictures' new thriller, which scored the highest opening for a horror film this year.
The Purge: Anarchy scarezone will greet guests with pure unadulterated fear, bringing to life the turmoil and pandemonium that awaits those vulnerable to masked vigilantes in search of new victims. Reimagining the movie's premise that on one night every year, any and all crime is made legal, the scarezone will be inhabited by average citizens transformed into sadistic felons during this period of government-sanctioned lawlessness. Like civilians in the movie fighting to survive, guests will be at the mercy of cunning wit, luck and speed as they attempt to outsmart and outlive the anarchy brought about by those »

Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort have announced a new addition to their Halloween Horror Nights this year.
The film is a sequel to last year's The Purge, about an annual night in which the Us government suspends laws and emergency services so that citizens are free to commit any crime they wish.
Anarchy will see a group of five citizens forced to find out just how far they are willing to go to protect themselves, and each other, during the annual night of lawlessness.
The theme park scarezone will see the area inhabited by actors playing average citizens who turn into sadistic criminals during the one night of lawlessness.
Guests will need to use their wits and be able to run fast in order to outsmart and escape the chaos of the terrifying night, »
A hit in theaters, “The Purge: Anarchy” will now become a “Halloween Horror Nights” scarezone at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort.
Film joins TV shows “The Walking Dead,” “From Dusk Till Dawn” and Syfy’s “Face Off” as other themed attractions at “Halloween Horror Nights,” that transforms Universal’s theme parks into a nightly scarefest.
“The Purge” scarezone will reimagine the film’s premise that revolves around all crime being legal one night a year, with the film themeing Universal Studios’ New York City backlot streets.
“‘Halloween Horror Nights’ is about taking guests out of their comfort zones and placing them at the core of unimaginable horror,” said John Murdy, Universal Studios Hollywood’s creative director for and executive producer of “Halloween Horror Nights.” “Because the premise of ‘The Purge’ could theoretically happen, our scare-zone elevates that sense of fear and forces you to really watch your back. »

Syfy’s special-effects makeup competition returns for a seventh season as the contestants explore the darkly delicious theme “Life and Death.” Each week, the contestants will face creative challenges designed to inspire and push their exploration of life, death, rebirth and mortality. In each episode, the contestants design, sculpt, cast, apply and paint elaborate character-defining makeups, and fabricate props, costumes and accessories. Some of the creatures the talented artists will create this season include an angry, twisted tree character; a new animal species; and a reptilian super solider that would fit into the world of G.I. Joe. The Face Off contestants … Continue reading →

Syfy's competitive prosthetic makeup series Face Off returns for a seventh season tonight, as glorious and tenderhearted as ever. The show is one of my favorites, but despite actual years of insisting that everyone I know at least give the series a try, it appears some have not yet been persuaded by my persistence. I am at a loss — the show is everything there is to love about a reality contest show, without any of the bloating and awkwardness of other series. Perhaps there are other reasons keeping you away? Allow me to dismantle them.I thought it was related to the Nicolas Cage movie Face/Off. A shocking number of people assume that it is. It is not! For better or worse, not everything has to be related to Nicolas Cage, even though the internet loves him sooooo much. I will admit, however, that Face Off leaves a little »

In addition to daily writings here on Dread, I also write for a fairly new website called iHorror, which I'm excited to report is making the move into feature film territory. Their first co-production is titled 10 Seconds to Run, and it'll only get made with Your help!
A joint production between Iyrus Entertainment and iHorror, 10 Seconds to Run is the story of a group of five friends driving to an electronic music festival. What was supposed to be a fun road trip ends up being a deadly mistake when they find themselves on a country road without cell and Gps service.
The friends become victims of a game that a few of the local backwoods residents like to play called "10 Seconds to Run." Players have 10 seconds to try to escape, and every new game has an added challenge to slow the victim down. The game is part of a bigger »

Fargo opened with a shot of an overturned snowmobile and a gaping whole in the center of cracked ice in the middle of nowhere, as the sounds of Lester breathing heavily serves as the soundtrack.
'Fargo' Finale Recap
Away from the cracked ice, Lester (Martin Freeman) is sitting in his car glancing over at Nygaard Insurance, where he just witnessed the murder of his second wife – who he tricked into taking a bullet for him. He pulls out his gun, takes the keys out of the ignition and heads over to the building. Lester walks in to find Linda (Susan Park) dead, her blood pooling on the floor around his red parka. Stepping over her body, he goes to the safe to take his passport, then reconsiders his plan and puts the keys to his car in Linda’s hand and goes to the diner.

I’m done with people who think Aquaman is lame. It’s less an argument than a played-out meme that draws its evidence from two ridiculous sources: Super Friends, a TV show that no one under the age of 30 actually watched; and Entourage, a TV show that everyone under the age of 30 watched, God damn our rotten souls. Aquaman’s classic costume is silly—green and orange, booties and gloves—but his backstory has ten Game of Thrones’ worth of awesomely kookbat mythology. He can control all sea creatures, which yes hahaha he talks to dolphins Oh Look Out Smart Guy »
