An "Intense" Experience
lavatch16 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
One of our favorite actresses, Alexandra "Lifetime" Paul is caught in the middle between twin brothers when the long-lost Steven Jordan returns to take his twin brother Max captive and impersonate him. Paul's character Olivia is Max's wife, and she gets to know Steven in the biblical sense of the word when the evil twin clambers into Max's bed.

Olivia finds her experience in the boudoir much more "intense" than the ritual she has typically performed with Max. This "intensity" becomes one of many clues leading her to investigate her husband's childhood and discover the true identity of her bed partner.

An old photo reveals a lookalike kid that was Max's twin. After a car crash took the lives of their parents and their sister, Max and Steven were separated. Max was brought up by his kind aunt and uncle while Steven grew up in abusive foster homes. Now, he is baaaaaaaack for restitution.

Actor Jack Wagner did an excellent job in interpreting the twins. The film was also successful in building tension as Olivia slowly comes to the realization that her husband has been impersonated. It was unfortunate that Uncle Len and Aunt Ruth were bumped off by Steven. Max's kind secretary, Scarlett Antonelli, was also a casualty of the diabolical twin.

The major shortcoming of the film was the inexplicably ambiguous climactic scene. By that point Olivia has enough information to know which one of the twins is her husband and which one is the imposter. But instead of asking the two men an intimate question that only one of them can answer, Olivia instead fires off her pistol at random. When the dust clears, one of the twins is dead.

The sly look on the face of the husband at the end was the filmmakers' way of suggesting that Olivia may have killed the wrong man. But it was a stretch to believe that Olivia could have spent enough "intense" moments with the imposter Steven that leads to her present condition of being very pregnant. It was too bad that the film's ending simply didn't work.

Unfortunately, we will really never know if it was Cain or Abel who died in the random shot heard round the world fired by Olivia Jordan.

One of those low budget TV movies that you find at midday. This was the story about a good twin and evil twin, the latter of whom is presumed dead or something after a car crash that kills their parents. Anyway, he re-emerges as a psycho and kidnaps his younger brother, and tries to become him in his life. Interesting plot, but pretty bad acting and an average script. Kept me watching until the end, but...
