A man gets out of a tub of water. His buttocks are shown repeatedly.

We see a brief glimpse of a dead naked woman (with some blood).

A woman is briefly shown undressing, we see breasts. She plans to have sex with a man but he leaves

The nudity described above is seen within the first half hour. The 2 scenes of the dead topless woman happens quick with no warning, in the foreground of the camera for a few seconds.

A few hazy flash backs of passionate kissing.

A woman says she was having an affair.

We see a dead woman (some blood) with spirals cut into her.

A man is hanged

A man throws himself under a subway off screen.

A man has the top of his heat sliced off.

A woman is killed, not graphic.

A man is crushed between two buildings, some blood.

A few men are shot, some blood.

A rather intense fight scene near the end. This takes place between two telekinetic characters so there is little physical violence or blood, but it is intense.

Almost nothing. 1 or 2 uses of hell and 1 use of damn.

Some smoking and social drinking, nothing too graphic.

An alien's head splits open and a tentacle creature crawls out of it.

The overall atmosphere is not meant for kids due the philosophical content.

Movie's atmosphere is very dark, hence the title "Dark City".

Rated R for violent images and some sexuality
