(at around 1h 29 mins) The whole band Lynyrd Skynyrd did not die in a plane crash. Although their plane did crash, only three members of the band were killed along with three other passengers. The other seven members of the band escaped with injuries.
(at around 1h 40 mins) At the end of the movie, when Cyrus crashes through the overpass, at first he appears to be coming out the other side, and that he will land behind the fire truck onto the street. However, he somehow falls through some power lines and lands on a conveyor belt that drops him under a pneumatic hammer looking object that appears to be in the middle of an industry yard, yet they are supposed to be in the middle of Las Vegas.
In several scenes we see Swamp Thing steering the plane with the control wheel while the plane is on the ground. The C-123 Provider is steered on the ground with a small wheel to the left of the Pilot's Control Wheel.
(at around 24 mins) The pilot's cabin is constructed of bullet proof steel, with a heavy duty bullet proof door, which is why Cyrus waits for the pilot to open it. The remaining pilot had several opportunities to close the door and seal himself in, then could have returned to the original airport.
(at around 1h 40 mins) Towards the very end of the movie, you see the stuffed bunny being washed down a gutter drain. Poe grabs it and you can see that it is wet, yet when he gives it to his daughter, it is dry.
(at around 1h 40 mins) At the end of the movie, towards the end of the fight between Cyrus and Poe, Cameron clearly handcuffs Cyrus to the fire truck's ladder; the ladder then begins to rise (which it couldn't do while in motion anyway), hurling Cyrus through the overpass. As his body leaves the ladder the framework is intact yet as his body comes out the opposite side the handcuff - one end still on his wrist - is no longer around anything even though it is obviously still closed.
(at around 1h) When Larkin runs into the hangar in search of a plane or chopper, Malloy's Corvette is visible behind him through the open gate, covered with a blue tarp. Once Larkin is out and considers using the Corvette, the tarp is gone.
(at around 34 mins) Cyrus orders dead DEA agent Sims' prison clothes to be put on guard Falzon, but there is no way they would fit the much taller and heavier guard. In fact when we see him being taken from the plane, they are actually quite loose on him. Furthermore, Cyrus shot Sims in the chest (where the heart is). An area where a bullet hole will be clearly visible for people to see. So, it should have been easier for the other guards to find out that these were not real prisoners.
(at around 1h 16 mins) At the desert airfield when Poe and Larkin meet next to the drug baron's private jet, we see one of the bad guys looking out of the cockpit of the aircraft at them. The window he looks out of in close-up is clearly a Gates/Bombardier Lear jet cockpit window, but the aircraft is a Rockwell Sabreliner.
More than one Corvette was used for all the shots - there were at least two different model years. The rear shots show a 1966 without back-up lights in the panel, and a 1967 which do have the back-up lights.
(at around 1h 26 mins) When Johnny is in the plane attempting to rape the guard, you see from a side view that he pulls her pants down to her knees, however when Poe hits him seconds later, her belt is seen still fastened around her waist, making this impossible.
(at around 1h 22 mins) Before all the shooting starts at the Lerner Air Field between the convicts and the police/military, a convict is shown loading a shotgun in a broken-down white airplane. The con sticks the gun out a broken window as he's loading it, and a large shard of glass is shown in the window. When the camera view changes to inside the plane, the shard of glass is gone.
(at around 1h 28 mins) When the three agents first see the airplane dragging Malloy's Corvette in the air the plane is a good ways away from them yet after while the Corvette hits a building and is released from the plane and lands next to the three agents. The plane would of had to do an impossible turn and fly back toward the agents. It is does not show the plane turning at all, it was taking off and was trying to gain altitude.
(at around 1h 28 mins) When the Corvette is being pulled behind the C-123 the rope is clearly visible until the car passes through the control tower. At that point we're supposed to think the car has come lose somehow causing it to fall to the ground. However, just before the car hits the ground and definitely afterwards the rope is again clearly visible.
(at around 1h 13 mins) Just before Poe meets Larkin, he is surrounded by people with guns. He holds his hands out and away from him as a gesture of surrendering. His arms are back down at his sides for the close-ups, but are out and away from him again during other shots.
(at around 1h 35 mins) When the plane going to crash at the Strip, in one shot which the plane is going toward the camera, it shown that the Riviera has been passed by the plane. The next shot, the plane is shown about to pass the Riviera.
(at around 1h 5 mins) When Vince Larkin goes on the top to see the con's plane position at the airport he finds dead body and blood spot and he opens his shades but in the next clip when he sees plane coming directly to him he is seen with shades on.
(at around 1h 29 mins) When the Corvette falls from the plane the rear number plate is shown firmly attached to the rear of the car yet the number plate is picked up moments later from the side of the car all crumpled and bent.
(at around 48 mins) When Tricia and Casey are waiting for Cameron, Casey is holding three balloons above her head. In the first long-shot the balloon nearest to Casey's face is red, then in a close-up it is blue, when it cuts to the US Marshall entering the room it is red again, then when it cuts back to a close-up of Tricia and Casey the balloon is blue again.
(at around 1h 6 mins) When Larkin is running to a building when the plane is landing at Lerner Air Field, his sunglasses are on. But an instant later when he opens the door and goes into the building, his sun glasses are off.
(at around 1h 13 mins) When Garland Greene removes the doll from the little girl's tea party, in the close up of the doll's head, he clearly uses his right hand to lift the doll, but when he sits down, he is holding it with his left hand.
When Malloy first arrives in the movie, you can see that his Corvette does not have a front license plate, only a rear plate. Later, when Larkin leaves in the Corvette for Lerner Air Field, you can read the CA97 sticker number G5935Z45 on the rear license plate on the Corvette. After Malloy's Corvette crashes through the control tower and lands on the ground, the car bounces and you can see the rear license plate still in good condition and firmly attached to the rear of the car. Malloy then picks up a license plate along the side the car. Since he had no front plate, it is obviously the rear plate with the same sticker number G5935Z45, seriously bent up with scratches and the word "California" ground off of the plate.
When Diamond Dog opens the hatch and calls to Poe to tell him to check the landing gear, you can see Cochise sitting to the right, talking with two other cons. He has no bandages on his face or burns from when Pinball set him on fire previously.
At Lerner Airfield, the jet Francisco Cindino is trying to escape in is hit by a crane arm and then crashes into gas pumps and a small building, after it stops Francisco is trying to climb out of the back of the broken in half jet and gasoline is shooting out of the ground where the knocked over gas pumps were.
Right then while Fransico is yelling for help and hanging out of the back of the jet, and Cyrus's and Swamp Thing's legs are to the left of screen, between Cyrus's left leg and Swamp Things right leg you can see a man very far off in the distance. He is wearing a white shirt, black pants and some kind of hat, he is running and carrying something red in his right hand that resembles a bag or maybe a bucket.
There is no character in the movie that fits that description during the Lerner Airfield Scenes. Nor is there any character that could be off in the distance at that moment. So it's some kind of crew member or first responder.
(at around 1 min) Prior to accidentally killing the drunk, Poe is outside of the bar, with a "BAR" sign visible. Alabama prohibits using the word "bar". It would be a "club", "place", or just about anything else, but never a bar.
(at around 1h 40 mins) When Poe and Larkin chase the fire truck they end up in a tunnel that appears to be near Las Vegas Blvd. The only tunnel in the city is a bypass to the airport that connects to the 215 Freeway which didn't even exist until 1998.
(at around 1h 35 mins) When the plane is crashing at the Las Vegas strip the casinos that the plane hits / passes are all in wrong order. The plane passes the and is heading south on the strip. It then hits the guitar for the Hard Rock Hotel, which is not even on the strip, but is several blocks east and much further south. Then they show the Circus Circus sign, which is after the Stratosphere. A few clips later as the plane is about to touch down it passes the white wooden roller coaster of the Boardwalk Casino. The casino is on the wrong side of the plane if it is flying south, and the Boardwalk casino is miles south of The Sands, where the plane finally stops. The next exterior shot shows the Barbary Coast and it is in the correct place south of Circus Circus and to the correct side of the southbound plane. Other shots show the Mirage and the Sands being mixed up and the plane finally ends at the front door of The Sands (which is no longer in existence).
(at around 1h 35 mins) At one point before it lands on the Las Vegas Strip, the plane clips the marquee guitar of the Hard Rock Casino. The Hard Rock Casino is less than a mile from the threshold of one of the runways at McCarran International Airport. So it would seem if they were that close to the airport they could have made an attempt to land there rather than on the Strip.
When "Swamp thing" announces to land the jailbird in Las Vegas, he announces that he has to land on the strip, since the damaged aircraft won't make it to the airport. seconds later, he flies over the hard rock cafe. from the hard rock cafe, it is only two blocks to the airport, but five blocks to the strip.
(at around 5 mins) The judge that sentences Poe claims that Poe does not have the same right of defense because he is combat trained. While it is a common myth that people trained in combat, such as soldiers, martial artists, and boxers, have to register themselves as dangerous weapons, this is completely untrue. All people are held to the same standard regarding self defense, regardless of their combat training.
(at around 1h 40 mins) Most fire trucks, especially ladder trucks, cannot pump water and drive at the same time, as the power from the motor is disengaged from the transmission/driveshaft and diverted to the pump gearing.
(at around 37 mins) The "transponder" removed from the Con Air aircraft is actually just a remote control head as evidenced by the large, multi-contact connector on the back of it. Even if it were the transponder, it would not operate on a single lantern battery, nor would it operate without an antenna. Having two operating transponders in an aircraft (the Grand Canyon Tours aircraft) would result in a collision alarm at Air Traffic Control since the radar would see two aircraft in the same place. Transponders are "Secondary Surveillance Radar". The Primary
Surveillance Radar would still see the Con Air Plane take-off and notice that it didn't have a transponder signal.
When the plane lands in Carson City for the transfer of prisoners, the waiting guards have "Department of Prisons" across their backs while the bus that transported the prisoners says, "Bureau of Prisons". A government entity would use either "Department" or "Bureau" but never both to identify itself.
In the beginning, as the film mentions the accomplishments of the US Army Rangers, most of the stock footage from Desert Storm is of US Army Special Forces (Green Berets) and US Marines, not of Rangers.
(at around 1h 30 mins) The pilot of the Cobra attack helicopter is aiming at the C-123K. We can see him putting the target box on the plane's port engine. However, external shots of the helicopter show there are only non-guided missiles fitted on it.
It has been long speculated that the tagline to the United States Army Rangers is "Rangers lead the way." In reality, the US Army Rangers do not have an official tagline like the regular US Army or the US Marines.
As a Type 1 diabetic, even without food/calorie intake, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) can develop in a matter of hours without insulin. DKA is the condition that Baby-O develops, not hypoglycemia. DKA needs to be treated not only with insulin, but with massive amounts of fluids and potassium in a hospital setting. Subcutaneous insulin will not stop the progress and it can lead to death within 1-2 days.
(at around 1h 30 mins) The TOW missiles that would have been carried by the AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters are not air-to-air missiles and have to be manually guided to the target (i.e. they cannot simply "lock on" to one)
(at around 1h 40 mins) At the end, a soaking-wet Cyrus lands on live power lines and is electrocuted. Moments later we see him not only alive, but semi-conscious. Cyrus would have been killed on contact with the power lines.
(at around 1h 35 mins) Towards the end of the movie, when the C-123 is over Las Vegas, it hits a neon guitar and separates a portion of the wing. With the amount of the wing that is sheared off, and the fact that the engine on the same wing isn't running, the aircraft would not be able to level out and would not fly - it would drop onto the broken wing and crash on its side.
Cameron Poe takes the photograph of his daughter back from Guard Falson. A while later, Cameron shakes him and demands the photograph. But he didn't really want the photograph; this was a cover for planting the tape.
When Malloy plants the gun on the DEA agent he places the gun in the sock of his left leg, however when the DEA agent reveals himself on the "conair" plane, he draws the gun from the sock of his right foot. But there's a significant time gap between when Sims gets on the plane and when Pinball releases him from his cuffs to reach for the gun, and during the chaos that ensued on the plane he might have switched the gun to his right to make it more easily accessible,
(at around 1h 21 mins) When Diamond Dog gets the small arsenal out from the belly of the plane, he opens a box of shotguns. He pulls them out and throws them to nearby cons, but when the camera switches to the cons, they are catching assault rifles, not shotguns, because he's opened the second box as well.
(at around 7 mins) In prison Poe reads aloud one of Casey's letters recounting her unhappy first day at school and why she doesn't want to go back. The vocabulary in her letter seems unusually advanced for a child who has barely started formal education, but it would only make sense that a child's letter to father in jail would have been written by her mother with the child's input.
(at around 33 mins) Baby-O can't get off the plane in Carson City because only white convicts are expected. When the men are prepped to get off the plane we see two black men among them. However, only the three dead prisoners that were being replaced needed to be white. There were still three more (making six all together) whose race was not specified.
An aircraft carrying several high-security prisoners would not land at a civilian airport to transfer prisoners. This would take place at a military airfield. In addition to this, a US marshal being shot and killed on the airfield and an aircraft full of prisoners escaping would result in the airport being immediately closed down and sealed off for investigation, so there is no way that "Uncle Bob's" scenic tour aircraft would have been allowed to depart shortly afterwards.
Baby-O was refused by Cyrus to get off the flight with Poe because "the men they're (the DOC officers at Carson City) expecting are white", which Cameron Poe then tells Baby-O he'll go off anyway and scream to alert about the hijacking. Cyrus already figuring that might happen with any of them going off the plane "gags and bags" the prisoners and the disguised correction officer and pilot walking off the flight. The prisoner kneeling to the right of Cameron Poe as they're being gagged and bagged is black and could have been easily substituted for Baby-O instead of Cameron deciding to stay on the plane.
(at around 35 mins) When the prison guards are examining Cyrus' cell and find the fake wall, one camera angle shows the scene from behind the wall. When it does, we see that the fake wall is painted the same green color as the rest of the wall. How (and why) would Cyrus paint the inside of the fake wall that would never been seen?
During one of letters Cameron is writing home to Casey, he mentions he knows how she misses doing all the things they have done together. They can't miss doing things together, when have haven't actually met.
(at around 1h) When Larkin is driving the car at high speeds to the airfield, he is supposed to be driving along the straight road, yet we can see from the shadow circling round him and the sun moving when he is on the phone, that he is driving round in circles.
(at around 1h 7 mins) After the prisoner's plane crash lands at Lerner Field, there is a shot of the plane's rear hatch being lowered that shows the underside of the aircraft. If you look closely, you can clearly see two tires on each side of the plane, even though the rear landing gear only has one tire for each side in several previous shots. The outer one is obviously the landing gear tire while the second, inner tire is obviously a truck tire. You can also see a large exhaust pipe and other suspension components that suggest that for this scene, the plane is actually just a mocked-up body that was built on a large truck chassis (likely a large box truck of some sort) in order to be driven towards the propane tank.
(at around 1h 27 mins) When the plane is tied to the cement post and is being shot at by Cyrus, there is a frame that clearly shows the hook detached from the rope. It is barely visible in real time, but if viewed frame by frame, it is evident. This same rope attaches itself to Malloy's car seconds later and lifts it into the air.
