Own the rights?
Cuts were required to get an R-rating for the theatrical release. The "Unrated Extended Edition" represents the original cut of the movie, not only having the censored violence back in but also being extended with additional scenes. The extended cut of the movie runs more than 6 minutes longer than the R-rated theatrical version. A detailed comparison between both versions can be found here.
