Ana Cristina de Oliveira,
Highly pretentious. Great for a hysterical critic!
Unfortunately, this is not a great film. This is not even a bad film. It is worse. The acting is non-existent, the direction goes nowhere and the story is as deep as a tea spoon. It is shallow and full of (laughs) blank spaces - yes - but you won't care to fill them. Boy goes to live with his father. They do not talk (very artsy)... boy meets Gloria, the talk, walk in the forest, boy comes home, guy chases Gloria, they talk, guy rapes a dog (yes: a dog!), Gloria goes here, there, boy says something, boy and Gloria go to the river, bla, bla, bla. That's it. Nothing else (laughs). How can anyone see anything good about this pretentious junk? It was overlooked, yes... and I think it should stay that way. Anyone who compares this to Bresson obviously misread one of them.
