Storyline

Elwood, the now lone "Blues Brother" finally released from prison, is once again enlisted by Sister Mary Stigmata in her latest crusade to raise funds for a children's hospital. Once again hitting the road to re-unite the band and win the big prize at the New Orleans Battle of the Bands, Elwood is pursued cross-country by the cops, led by Cabel the Curtis' son (and Elwood's step-brother), the Russian Mafia, and a militia group. On his new "mission from God" Elwood enlists the help of a young orphan, and a strip club bartender. Written by Stephen Scaia <s_scaia@emerson.edu>

Trivia

The film was dedicated in loving memory of John Belushi, Cab Calloway, and John Candy, all three of whom acted in The Blues Brothers (1980), and all of whom died before Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) went into production. Ironically, Calloway, the oldest of the three actors, died last at the age of 86, which is older than Belushi's and Candy's combined ages at the times of their respective deaths (33 and 43 respectively). Goofs

During the chase scene after the Russians torch the club when the tacks are used and the Russians car flips over, it flips over before it reaches the left side of the club and ends up in front of the club. In the previous shot the actual chase started in front of the club and they were driving fast and would have been well away from the club when the car flipped over. See more »

Quotes

Mighty Mack: Elwood, they have automatic weapons.
Elwood Blues: Look in the glove compartment.
Mighty Mack: Carpet Tacks! They have guns and we have carpet tacks.
Elwood Blues: They're not carpet tacks. They're dry-wall nails.

Who cares about the plot? There wasn't one. The best thing about this movie is the top notch music and performers. Having all those folks in one film is incredible. A hundred years from now, this film would be a great case study of the R & B, Soul, and Blues of this time. And this tease.stay after the final credits, and you will be greatly rewarded. For this type of film I wish there was 2 scoring systems, one for the plot and the other for the music.
