Sex & Nudity


Some scenes contain mild references to sex and nudity.

The dude is in a make believe movie where he flies along a bowling alley between the legs of many women. He turns upside down looking upward into the women's skirts, causing him to smile.

Maude appears at the Dude's home dressed in his robe. She drops it to the floor and says "love me". Her whole reason for being there is to get pregnant by the Dude.

A fully nude woman is seen running in the backyard through a picture window. She is seen at a distance.

Violence & Gore


The violence is mostly played for comedy, yet some instances contain true threat .

Walter pulls a gun on a man during a bowling match because of a foot foul.

A man punches another guy.

Thugs come into The Dude's place and smash things with a cricket bat.

Walter takes a crowbar and thrashes a new car.

A police officer throws a coffee mug at a man's forehead and then pushes him to the floor.

A thug grabs a man and shoves his head into a toilet several times.

A thug urinates on the Dude's rug, we see him from behind. No nudity is seen.

Walter severely beats up three men at the end of the film, and bites the ear off one of them. Afterwards he is shown with blood on his face.

A man is hit in the stomach by a bowling ball. He almost vomits and seems to be in pain.

Donnie dies in the film, due to a heart attack. This can be quite upsetting.

A man seriously pulls a gun on a man over a slight argument in a bowling match. [comical]

The Dude and Walter spread Donnie's ashes on the rocky cliff of the seaside after he is cremated. A eulogy spoken by Walter is emotional until it goes awry with Viet Nam references.

The same man smashes a car with a crowbar. Later another man smashes the Dude's car. [comical]

An ear is bitten off. Blood is shown.
