Jeff Bridges Revives 'the Dude' From 'Big Lebowski' to Honor John Goodman

11 March 2017 9:01 AM, PST | | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Jeff Bridges resurrected his beloved "the Dude" from The Big Lebowski Friday, donning the character's signature cardigan sweater while honoring his co-star John Goodman at that actor's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Bridges took the podium in a suit jacket before swapping it out for the Dude's sweater; Goodman played the Dude's buddy Walter in the Coen Brothers' 1998 cult comedy, one of the actor's favorite roles.

From there, Bridges delivered a speech honoring Goodman in the style of Walter's eulogy for Donny (played by Steve Buscemi) in the film, Time reports. »

Jeff Bridges Revives ‘The Dude’ to Pay Tribute to John Goodman — Watch

Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski made an appearance during John Goodman’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony on March 10. Donning the iconic knit sweater worn by his character in “The Big Lebowski,” actor Jeff Bridges was at hand to honor his longtime friend and co-star in the Coen Brothers’ 1998 comedy. Bridges delivered a hilarious speech inspired by the scene in which Walter (Goodman) gives a rambling eulogy for Donny (Steve Buscemi), as he and The Dude (Bridges) stand by the sea to scatter Donny’s ashes, and the whole ceremony gets ruined by the strong wind.

Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski was brought back to life on Hollywood Boulevard, but this time, he was the one who delivered a eulogy for a friend, and it ended with “Good afternoon, sweet prince,” rather than good night.

At John Goodman’s Walk of Fame ceremony, Jeff Bridges donned “The Dude’s” signature, quirky, knit sweater, and delivered a typically rambling and hilarious rendition of the eulogy that Walter gives before scattering Donny’s ashes in the 1998 Coen Brothers cult classic “The Big Lebowski.”

Everyone’s Favorite Everyman John Goodman Receives Walk of Fame Honor

10 March 2017 10:00 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

With his jocular, yet authoritative voice matched with a wide grin and gleaming eyes, John Goodman could very well be the definition of a character actor. The guy filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen routinely cast as the sidekick who lands some of the most memorable lines in their movies or whom Lorne Michaels frequently calls up to host and guest star on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” With the latter, it helps that he seems comfortable with dressing in drag.

And, despite being a marquee name with a scroll of TV, film, and theater credits, Goodman is perfectly fine with this distinction. “I still consider myself a character actor,” Goodman says. “I think it’s a good thing. I think every actor’s a character actor to a certain extent. Character actor has a lot of different definitions. I’m just a mutt. I just keep going for the bone. »

Kong: Skull Island Trailer 3 Drops!

I will admit, I was not onboard with Kong: Skull Island until I finally got around to watching the 1st trailer and Wow, was I impressed. This final trailer is amazing, and it shows us quite a few treats. The biggest treat of the entire film is the perfect cast. Check it out here:

First, John C. Reilly quite possibly one of the most versatile actors ever to be born. I think Days of Thunder is the first film I saw him in, where he plays a slightly comedic, yet mixed, role. Of course, we can skip over quite a bit of movies and go to Step Brothers, but if we do we miss some of his dramatic acting like in Gangs of New York, Magolia, and possibly even in Boogie Nights (debatable role there). We recently saw him in Guardians of the Galaxy, where he has a level of dry humor, »

Super Bowl Ad Review: Coen Brothers Try to Rev Audiences for Mercedes

30 January 2017 11:45 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Joel and Ethan Coen have lured moviegoers to films ranging from “The Big Lebowski” to “No Country for Old Men.” Can they now direct football fans to blow tens of thousands of dollars on a new Mercedes?

That will be the challenge come Sunday, when a 30-second ad will air during Super Bowl Li featuring Peter Fonda, the auto manufacturer’s slick Amg roadster, and a gang of burly bikers listening to Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild.” The question, of course, will be if the Coens can make the kind of art that leads to commerce.

Based on the teaser made available online – a 60-second behemoth that will no doubt be ill-served by the editor’s knife when it is cut down to half that length – the answer may be “No.”  After spending time with the colorful denizens of the tavern (it’s called “Tiny’s,” by the way) it’s hard to figure out why »
