Andy Cohen has all the feels after celebrating good friend John Mayer‘s 40th birthday in Rio de Janeiro.

The Watch What Happens Live host took to Instagram Friday to post a second birthday tribute to the musician, who is in Brazil for a run of shows this week and next.

“One final salute to @johnmayer as we put a bow around our Celebration of 40 Years of Excellence,” Cohen, 49, captioned a photo of the “Gravity” singer standing in a salute position on board a boat.

John Mayer Got Himself a Diamond Big Lebowski Chain for His 40th Birthday

16 October 2017 7:30 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

The Dude would definitely approve of John Mayer’s latest jewelry purchase.

On Friday, Mayer shared a picture of a diamond chain he got himself to celebrate his 40th birthday (October 16!), which featured Jeff Bridges’ infamous movie character from The Big Lebowski.

“If you’re asking me if I had @benballer make me a diamond encrusted chain bearing a likeness of The Dude for my 40th birthday, then I guess my answer would have to be you’re damn right I did,” Mayer wrote alongside a video of his flashy new necklace. “Anxiety and worry is canceled this week.”

Woodshock – Review

28 September 2017 9:30 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

It’s travel time at the vacation wing of the ole’ multiplex yet again. A couple of months ago we explored France in Paris Can Wait, and just a few weeks ago we joined Steve and Rob for a food-filled travelogue in The Trip To Spain. Summer may be over, but it’s not too late to “get away from it all” with another trip….a trip inside your mind. If you’re thinking of “mother’s little helper” then you’re on the right track. Movies about drugs have changed with society over the years. The first flicks were hysterical (in more ways than one) cautionary tales epitomized by the camp classic Reefer Madness. With the counter culture’s rise in the 60’s and 70’s there were more enlightened films like, well Roger Corman’s The Trip. And in the 80’s Cheech and Chong finally took their weed humor »

Julianne Moore Is the Real Reason ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Is Worth Seeing

22 September 2017 10:27 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

You probably want to go see “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” because you enjoyed the 2014 original, but there’s only one reason why you should actually go spend upwards of $12 to watch the sequel, and her name is Julianne Moore. Sure, Matthew Vaughn’s action scenes remain dazzlingly choreographed and new cast members Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, and Channing Tatum are welcome additions, but Moore owns the entire movie as a scene-chewing sociopath. Sorry, Colin Firth.

The Oscar winner embraces her dark side as Poppy Adams, a global entrepreneur who wants to legalize the drug trade so that her multimillion dollar empire can operate freely in the United States. Poppy has a fetish for 1950s Americana kitsch, and Moore basically plays her as if her housewife from “Far From Heaven” were a diabolical and demonic James Bond villain — think Martha Stewart with horns. Poppy is sweet, squeaky-clean, and maternal, but she »

Jeff Bridges interview: Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Iron Man, Starman, westerns

Duncan Bowles Sep 20, 2017

Jeff Bridges chats to us about movies, Kingsman, westerns, Iron Man and more...

When preparing for an interview it can often be a double edged sword if you choose to look at other peoples’ work. Sometimes you read an interview and the answers can look frighteningly short, so panic might set in that perhaps that person isn’t very chatty, or doesn’t like doing them (though often publications just choose to use highlights), but I have to say that with Jeff Bridges, I’m glad I’d read Celia Walden’s talk with him for the Telegraph first.

I wouldn’t usually reference what I’d read in an introduction, but once you know you’re going to be sat in a room with Jeff Bridges, alone, for fifteen minutes, you need as much preparation as possible – he is, after all, a cinematic legend who needs no introduction. »

‘The Big Lebowski’ Embarrassed John Turturro At First, and Now He’s Made a ‘More Sexual’ Sequel

28 August 2017 10:27 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

One of the most intriguing indies without a release date or a scheduled festival appearance this fall is John Turturro’s “Going Places.” The film had been originally billed as a sequel to the Coen Brothers’ 1998 cult classic “The Big Lebowski,” but it’s more of a character-centric spinoff or “continuation” of the Jesus character Turturro made so iconic 19 years ago.

Turturro recently joined The Hollywood Reporter on its Awards Chatter podcast for a conversation about his Emmy-nominated turn in “The Night Of,” but the discussion couldn’t help but involve one of his most unforgettable supporting turns. It turns out the actor could have never predicted that Jesus, the Puerto Rican bowling enthusiast, would be such a huge success and a character he would revisit nearly two decades later.

1941: A Great Comedy For Slim Pickens Day

27 August 2017 11:12 AM, PDT | Trailers from Hell | See recent Trailers from Hell news »

On Monday, August 28, 2017, Turner Classic Movies will devote an entire day of their “Summer Under the Stars” series to the late, great Louis Burton Lindley Jr. If that name doesn’t sound familiar, well, then just picture the fella riding the bomb like a buckin’ bronco at the end of Dr. Strangelove…, or the racist taskmaster heading up the railroad gang in Blazing Saddles, or the doomed Sheriff Baker, who gets one of the loveliest, most heartbreaking sendoffs in movie history in Sam Peckinpah’s Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.

Lindley joined the rodeo circuit when he was 13 and soon picked up the name that would follow him throughout the length of his professional career, in rodeo and in movies & TV. One of the rodeo vets got a look at the lank newcomer and told him, “Slim pickin’s. That’s all you’re gonna get in this rodeo. »

The 100 Greatest Comedies of All-Time, According to BBC’s Critics Poll

22 August 2017 5:43 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

After polling critics from around the world for the greatest American films of all-time, BBC has now forged ahead in the attempt to get a consensus on the best comedies of all-time. After polling 253 film critics, including 118 women and 135 men, from 52 countries and six continents a simple, the list of the 100 greatest is now here.

Featuring canonical classics such as Some Like It Hot, Dr. Strangelove, Annie Hall, Duck Soup, Playtime, and more in the top 10, there’s some interesting observations looking at the rest of the list. Toni Erdmann is the most recent inclusion, while the highest Wes Anderson pick is The Royal Tenenbaums. There’s also a healthy dose of Chaplin and Lubitsch with four films each, and the recently departed Jerry Lewis has a pair of inclusions.

Check out the list below (and my ballot) and see more on their official site.

Insights: Breaking Up is Easy To Do—Netflix Rolls On After Disney Announcement

18 August 2017 8:41 AM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

The negative reaction to Netflix last week after Disney’s announcement that it would pull back its films and series after 2018 was both swift and severe. Within hours, Netflix lost $3 billion in valuation, and plenty of hot takes opined that Disney’s decision was the most momentous but hardly the only one by Hollywood studios now scared to license content to the big red N.

Certainly, the Disney announcement includes lots of interlocking pieces that are well thought out and promise big shifts in Hollywood’s halting embrace of digital media. The announcement heralds two big new streaming services (Espn and Whatever Disney calls the other one) next to the dozens of over-the-top services already out there. More choice for consumers! More high-end subscription-only stuff you get to track down, connect to and pay for! Yay! Act happy!

At the same time, let me suggest that you shouldn’t cry too hard for Netflix. »
