Storyline

Austin Powers is a 60's spy who is cryonically frozen and released in the 1990's. The world is a very different place for Powers. Unfortunately for Austin, everyone is no longer sex-mad. Although he may be in a different decade, his mission is still the same. He has teamed up with Vanessa Kensington to stop the evil Dr. Evil, who was also frozen in the past. Dr. Evil stole a nuclear weapon and is demanding a payment of (when he realises its the 90's) 100 billion dollars. Can Austin Powers stop this madman? or will he caught up with Evil's henchman, with names like Alotta Fagina and Random Task? Only time will tell! Written by simon

Trivia

The names of Dr. Evil's lesser minions are displayed next to the buttons he pushes to send them into the fiery pits. In the opening scene, the following assassins end up in the pit: Generalisimo, Jurgen, Don Luigi and Rita, who is dressed as a meter maid (referring to The Beatles song 'Lovely Rita'). In the scene where Dr. Evil addresses the United Nations, his henchmen include four men in business suits. They are identified as Number 4, Number 5, Number 6 and Number 7. We can assume Frau Farbissina is Number 3. See more »

Goofs

The briefcase Number 2 sets on the table when he offers Austin the business proposition is closed in one shot, and appears open and full of money in the next. This is due to a cut scene which is shown after the movie on the video release, but appears as a continuity error in the actual movie. See more »

Quotes

Dr. Evil: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my underground lair. I have gathered here before me the world's deadliest assassins, and yet each of you has failed to kill Austin Powers. That makes me angry. And when Dr. Evil gets angry, Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset. And when Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset... people DIE!

Finally, a good Bond spoof
8 March 2004 | by (Denmark) – See all my reviews

This is really a funny parody of the Bond movies. This is the best thing to watch if you've seen a typical by-the-numbers Bond movie, one of the old ones, for example, and thought it was ridiculous, or at the very least something other than great. The plot is directly spoofing the old Bond movies, with an evil villain trying to take over the world. The acting is pretty good, for a spoof movie; the characters are mostly caricatures and stereotypes, to further parody the Bond movies, but they add to the humor of the film. Mike Myers is great in this movie, pretty much anyone who likes him will probably enjoy him in this. I loved how it was spoofing the Bond movies, sometimes even mentioning the ludicrousness of the characters actions in details. If you're into 60's stereotypes, crude sexual humor and some great Bond-spoof action, you'll most likely enjoy this. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys spoof movies, and who's seen at least one Bond movie and thought it was a bit ridiculous. It's filled to the brink with crude sexual innuendo and Bond-spoofing. 8/10
