The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen reboot in development at 20th Century Fox

I’m not sure how Alan Moore will feel about this one (we can all make an educated guess) but this is one reboot that I definitely do want to see happen. According to The Tracking Board 20th Century Fox are keen to make a big screen adaptation reboot of one of Alan Moore’s best work to date, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Back in 2003 a feature film loosely based on the comic book series starring Sean Connery was considered a huge failure (even though it made a small profit) and was critically panned by movie and comic-book enthusiasts alike. In fact the movie got slated so badly that it’s the main reason cited why Connery retired from acting shortly after it’s release.

Alberta Watson, the Canadian actress who starred in USA Network’s “La Femme Nikita” as Madeline, the ruthless, Machiavellian second-in-command of secret agency Section One, recurred on the CW’s reboot series “Nikita” as Senator Madeline Pierce and memorably appeared as the mother in David O. Russell’s first film, “Spanking the Monkey,” died Saturday at a Toronto hospice. She was 60 and had fought a long battle with cancer.

La Femme Nikita” ran on USA from 1997-2001. Watson was also a series regular as director of CTU Los Angeles Erin Driscoll during season four of Fox’s “24.” Earlier she was a season regular on the brief 1987 ABC drama “Buck James.”

The actress also had a long career in films, especially in her native Canada. In Russell’s “Spanking the Monkey,” she played the bedridden mother to Jeremy Davies’ sullen, priapic teen; the two eventually have a sexual encounter. She won »

Alberta Watson, who played Madeline in the Canadian series “La Femme Nikita” and Sen. Madeline Pierce on the CW series “Nikita,” died Saturday after “a long and heroic battle with cancer,” a representative for the actress told TheWrap on Monday. She was 60. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the luminous Alberta Watson. Alberta died in the arms of her beloved Ken on Saturday March 21st at Kensington Hospice in Toronto after a long and incredibly courageous battle with cancer,” Gary Goddard Agency, which represented Watson, said in a statement. A memorial service is currently being planned. »
