Jonathan Creek creator David Renwick has admitted that he is worried about how his new Christmas special will be received by fans. The BBC One mystery show, which stars Alan Davies, is returning for a one-off edition on New Year's Day. It will be the first new episode of the programme since 2004. Renwick, who also created One Foot in the Grave, has now revealed that he is expecting a backlash from viewers after the episode has aired. London -- Pulling out "all the stops," BBC director of vision Jana Bennett on Monday unveiled a festive Christmas lineup that includes a seasonal adventure for "Wallace and Gromit," a new version of classic thriller "The 39 Steps" and a Christmas edition of "Doctor Who," as well as Christmas specials for series "Gavin And Stacey," "The Royle Family," "Strictly Come Dancing" and "Top Gear."

"Wallace and Gromit" will return to the small screen in the telefilm "A Matter of Loaf and Death," which sees the duo set up the Top Bun bakery. Preoccupied with his burgeoning romance with baking temptress Piella Bakewell, Wallace is oblivious to the suspicious disappearance of a succession of local bakers, leaving the indomitable Gromit to turn sleuth and safe him in a comic murder mystery.

The BBC has released details of its festive lineup, headlined by the returns of several old favourites. Wallace and Gromit are back for a bakery-set adventure called A Matter Of Loaf and Death, while Alan Davies will reprise his role as Jonathan Creek for the first time in five years. Scottish comedy Rab C Nesbitt is also back for a new 45-minute special after an absence of a decade, and the cast of Blackadder will reunite for a one-off documentary special, Blackadder Rides Again. The lineup features festive episodes of comedies The Royle Family, Gavin and Stacey, After You've Gone, My Family, Lead Balloon and a revived Shooting Stars.
