Frozen Trailer Hits Web

22 December 2009 2:11 AM, PST | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

From the looks of this first trailer, Frozen's set-up is devastatingly simple and the film from the writer/director of Hatchet seems all set to do to for ski-lifts what Jaws did for swimming.

Three 20-somethings (pretty blond, Dawson's Creek-reject and his hairy friend) are out on the mountains and somehow get on the chair-lift for one last run before nightfall. The problem is no-one knows they're there and the lift is shut down leaving them hanging above a deserted mountain with a snow-storm on the horizon and a four day resort closure ahead of them.

Reports from Telluride earlier this year suggest that this is an intense and gripping film, and we can't wait to see it in the New Year. Check out the trailer below and be sure to let us know what you think.

Mike Judge Discusses Extract Over Dinner

18 December 2009 3:44 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Mike Judge sits in the directors chair on the set of Extract As clich&#233 as it sounds, I have grown up on the work of filmmaker/animator Mike Judge. From his controversial MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-head and the successful Fox animated series King of the Hill to wonderful film classics Office Space and Idiocracy, if I hear the words Mike Judge on any film or TV project, needless to say, I'm on board. So, naturally, I was on board as well when I was invited to head down to Venice, California to Joe's Restaurant (don't let the name fool you - this place is high-class all the way) for dinner and a chat with Judge for his new film Extract, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 22. Despite all of his success, Judge still seems surprised about the fervent fandom associated with his work. When »

A Beastly Teaser Trailer

14 December 2009 1:24 PM, PST | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

Teen fantasy horror isn't exactly light on the ground at the moment, and thanks to a certain sharp-of-tooth franchise cinemas will no doubt  be overflowing with angst-ridden emo kids for some time to come. Dawson's Creek isn't over, they just got some make-up and came back as 'vamps'.

So, a teaser for Beastly turns up...

Cynical cash-in on a current trend or witty modernisation of Beauty And The Beast? The story has potential but that ropey CGI is hardly inspiring...

It's out in the UK on 8th October 2010, but you lucky folks in the Us can see it in July.

Part 3: From Ben Elton to L Ron Hubbard

Ben Elton Turned rock history into a 'jukebox musical' cash cow

"The Matrix meets the Arthurian legend meets Terminator 2," was how Ben Elton hilariously described his Queen musical when it debuted in 2002. A more honest commentator might have pegged We Will Rock You as being a bit like Suzi Quatro directing a particularly stupid episode of Deep Space Nine using a cast entirely drawn from the Camden branch of Fresh & Wild. By blowing off any regard for plot, cliche or character arc, Elton took the genteel traditions of musical theatre and rock's outsider chic, and served them up as a mindless Mor smoothie. Marketing men realised there were plenty more theatregoers too old to rock'n'roll, yet too dumb for Sondheim. And so, as Tonight's The Night et al followed the idiot-proof recipe drawn up by Wwry and its close predecessor, Mamma Mia! »

Van Der Beek and model confirm they`re an item

10 December 2009 6:50 PM, PST | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

James Van Der Beek has posed for the cameras with his new flame Kimberly Brook. He and his estranged wife of six years, Heather McComb, started divorce proceedings over the northern summer. The Dawson's Creek star and the model chose a West Hollywood event promoting Summit on the Summit: Kilimanjaro to confirm rumours they were dating. An onlooker said the pair appeared shy at first but later 'didn't leave each other's side all night'. They have also been seen out at the Chateau Marmont. Big names including actresses Jessica Biel and Isabel Lucas will attempt to climb 4600m Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania early next month to raise awareness of the global clean water crisis. »

'Life Unexpected' is 'Very WB'

7 December 2009 3:12 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Fans of Buffy, Felicity, Charmed, Dawson's Creek, et al should be pleased with Life UneXpected, CW's quirky dramedy that is set to kick off January 18th. A source tells E! Online that Lux, which is also the name of the series' Juno-like little heroine, is "great" and is "very WB" - that is, the CW prior to the merger with Upn, which successfully launched such shows as Roswell, Popular, Gilmore Girls, and Everwood.

"[Life UneXpected is] cute and well-written as Privileged without the usual CW rich people," adds the source.

'Debbie Macomber's Mrs. Miracle': Maybe Christmas specials don't have to be good

6 December 2009 6:24 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Okay, I'll say it upfront, I'm not a big fan Christmas movies, so the thought of sitting through Debbie Macomber's Mrs. Miracle wasn't exactly my idea of a perfect night in. The Hallmark Channel film, which premiere Saturday night, starred James Van Der Beek as a widowed father of twins desperately seeking nanny, while Doris Roberts played the geriatric version of Mary Poppins. (She didn't crinkle her nose or snap her fingers to make magic happen, the sound mix took care of that.) You could predict the formulaic plot line of this special ten minutes in. Van Der Beek Finds New Love

3 December 2009 5:31 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Former Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek is moving on from his broken marriage - he's reportedly dating model Kimberly Brook.

The actor, 32, separated from his wife Heather McComb in April and filed for divorce last month, citing irreconcilable differences.

But Van Der Beek is getting over his marriage split with the help of Brook after meeting her during a vacation in Israel in August, according to Star magazine.

The couple was snapped enjoying a night out together at Los Angeles bar The Roger Room just days before he filed court papers to end his marriage to McComb.

A source says, "He really likes her. They have a blast just talking and hanging out. Now that James is officially free, he and Kim both want to take their relationship to the next level." »

'Life UneXpected': A look at the CW's new show

2 December 2009 4:03 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The CW has announced mid-season show "Life UneXpected" will debut on Monday, Jan. 18 -- 'til then, whet your appetite on these trailers.

"Life UneXpected" should breathe a little good ol' fashioned heart into the CW's lineup of gossipy vampires in Melrose.

It's the story of a teenage foster kid who tracks down her biological parents and so far, it looks decent. We're particularly excited about Shiri Appleby ("Roswell") and Kerr Smith ("Dawson's Creek") returning to prime-time.

We think the CW has to be confident in its new fare, if it's giving both "One Tree Hill" and "Gossip Girl" time off in order to slot "Life UneXpected" into its programming.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay? Will you give it a chance? Vote below!

'Life UneXpected' Preview - What Do We Think?

30 November 2009 4:10 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Not everyone was happy with the CW schedule for the start of 2010 - some because of One Tree Hill's six-month hiatus and others because there won't be a new Gossip Girl episode until March 8. But central to the CW's schedule shakeup agenda is a new drama that looks promising and, dare we say it, not like the crop of shows that are currently airing on the cable network.

Life UneXpected looks like it doesn't have the scandal and glitz of Gossip Girl and the intense drama of One Tree Hill, but a refreshing, kind of warm humor and ambiance of something in between, something that you'd expect from ABC Family or the old WB. And why not, with alums from Dawson's Creek and Roswell, people have high hopes for Life UneXpected. Here's the extended preview:

Katie Holmes Ruins "New Moon" For Moviegoers

27 November 2009 2:50 AM, PST | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Katie Holmes has ruined "New Moon" for the fans. The usually quiet Mrs. Tom Cruise reportedly couldn't stop talking about the film with friends in a movie theater, ruining the whole story for those who could hear her.

According to Fox411, the 30-year-old former "Dawson's Creek" star stopped by a movie theater near her Manhattan apartment with a group of girlfriends on Saturday to watch the "Twilight" film sequel.

But instead of delighting her fellow Twihard fans with her presence in the movie house, it seemed Holmes ruined the whole film for them, talking nonstop throughout the entire film.

Sources said she kept talking about the film and everything else. People wanted them to be quiet, but when they realized it was the actress, they stayed silent.

Joshua Jackson In Remake Of "UFO"

Joshua Jackson ("Dawson's Creek", "Fringe") will star in a new film adaptation of the cult 70's British sci-fi TV series "UFO" reports Variety. Jackson will star as Paul Foster, a test pilot who joins S.H.A.D.O. (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization), a covert organization built under a Hollywood studio that defends Earth against a race of aliens who have been abducting humans and using the body parts. Famed for his marionette shows like "Thunderbirds" and "Captain Scarlett", Gerry Anderson turned to live-action with the original "UFO" which ran for a single season of twenty-six episodes from 1970 to 1971. A second series was initially commissioned but later cancelled, with much of the development work done on it incorporated into Anderson's more well-known mid-late 70's »

Do you agree with the Twihards that New Moon is the film of the year? Or is this supernatural romance strangely bloodless?

Poor old Chris Weitz. Once considered a promising film-maker, round about the time he successfully transformed Nick Hornby's pleasant and enjoyable novel About a Boy into an equally pleasant and enjoyable movie starring Hugh Grant and that kid from Skins, he now finds himself working as a hired hand on film number two of the Twilight saga, the hugely popular but strangely bloodless series based on Stephenie Meyer's romantic books about a schoolgirl who falls in love with a vampire. The critics are predictably nonplussed by a movie that stretches to more than two hours, at least half of which is the celluloid equivalent of hanging out with a female Kevin the Teenager.
