Charisma Carpenter has said that a Buffy the Vampire Slayer remake would be disappointing. The actress, who played Cordelia on the supernatural show, revealed that a film reboot of the Joss Whedon series would not be a good idea. "My feeling is, 'Of course, they're doing it. It was successful'. But, to do it without Joss [Whedon], it's just going to be really disappointing," Carpenter told Collider. "I feel like it could do more harm to the franchise than good," she added. "Maybe it'll make people appreciate the original more. I don't know. But, (more) »

Buffy Reboot Rebuffed

28 December 2011 9:51 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Fans of the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer may be feeling a little extra optimistic about the coming new year. The reboot of the franchise that was planned without any involvement from creator Joss Whedon has apparently come to a halt.

According to the La Times (via MTV News), the screenplay submitted earlier in the year by Whit Anderson did not meet expectations and was "rejected completely." It was reportedly Anderson's take on the Buffy story that made producers interested in the project in the first place. If her screenplay was rejected, it could be enough to stall the project entirely. Though the Times does report that a new writer is being sought for the project, it seems doubtful the movie will get made. After the original announcement of the reboot, fans, former cast members and crew members vehemently (and publicly) disapproved of the Whedon-less Buffy. It could be »

Alexandra Chando Teases Return of The Lying Game

28 December 2011 4:46 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Is it hot in here? Or is it the returning action of The Lying Game?

Indeed, the mysterious ABC Family drama drops viewers back in to Phoenix on January 2, as Alexandra Chando told us in an exclusive interview that viewers can expect new twists and turns on the episode ahead, many of which were not included in the book series.

“Questions are answered," the star teased. "But new questions arise from there.”

The Lying Game Clip: "O Twin, Where Art Thou"

The winter season picks up right where The Lying Game left off this summer at Sutton’s birthday party. Look for Ethan, Thayer and Emma to try to locate the latter's twin, but Chando gave us one big reason why 2012 will be very different from 2011:

"This is the first time we won’t be privy to Sutton’s whereabouts.”

Other developments to come include Charisma Carpenter’s turn as Char’s Aunt Rebecca. »

Our weekly round-up of the big news stories from the world of movie superheroes…

Warner Bros. gave Batman fans an early Christmas present this past Monday with the online release of the second theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises and – with anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s Gotham swansong reaching fever pitch - it quickly went on to shatter the iTunes record previously held by Marvel’s The Avengers as it amassed a whopping 12.5m views in just 24 hours. The trailer delivered on pretty much every level, giving us a tantalising glimpse at what appears to be some epic action sequences, along with a look at the majority of the cast in action, including Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Tom Hardy (Bane), Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon), Michael Caine (Alfred), Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake), along with a Batman Returns-style introduction to Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle. »

Exclusive: An Interview with Author Nancy Holder – Part 1

As a first-generation splatterpunk author, Nancy Holder made her name with a string of edgy short stories and novels like Dead in the Water (for which she won one of her four Bram Stoker Awards). But Holder is also well known for her media tie-in fiction, particularly her Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels, which predated today's paranormal teen romance craze. I recently caught up with Holder to discuss horror trends past and present, and how she manages to balance the subgenres in which she works. Read our conversation after the jump. It seems you were ahead of your time when it comes to the paranormal romance genre… I started our writing a lot of short horror fiction. And I wrote nothing but short stories »

'Buffy' Reboot Scrapped Over Disappointing Script

27 December 2011 7:50 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Remember that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot that's been kicking around Hollywood? Consider it staked — for now, at least.

The Los Angeles Times reported late last week that screenwriter Whit Anderson — the newcomer who'd been hired to reinvent Joss Whedon's widely adored film, TV and comic book series about a teenage vampire slayer and her equally capable friends — has been booted from the project after delivering a script that "fell far short of expectations and, in the end, was rejected completely."

Fans of the Whedonverse and "Buffy" specifically are undoubtedly thrilled by the news of the reboot's apparent demise (the Los Angeles Times' original report notes that even though "a new writer is being sought," the project as a whole "may have lost some steam" following Anderson's disappointing effort). And fans aren't the only ones who are likely celebrating, as many cast and crew members associated with "Buffy" have »

'A Christmas Story': 11 things you may not know about the holiday classic

25 December 2011 10:32 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

TBS is in the midst of its annual 24-hour marathon of "A Christmas Story," the 1983 movie about a young boy's (Peter Billingsley) quest for a Bb gun that has become as much a part of the season as "It's a Wonderful Life."

But did you know that Jack Nicholson was considered for the role of Ralphie's father? So says TBS, which says Nicholson was offered the role and he was interested. The movie's producers became concerned about what they might have to pay Nicholson, however, and went with Darren McGavin instead.

Here are some other little- to well-known facts about "A Christmas Story."

- Author Jean Shepherd, who narrates the movie and whose book "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" is the basis for the film, also has a cameo. He's the annoyed man in the department store who tells Ralphie and Randy the line to see Santa starts back there. »
