Eliza Dushku's Criminal Connections

13 September 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Buffy star Eliza Dushku fears her role as evil Faith may be a little too convincing - she has become an icon for some of America's worst criminals. The 19-year-old actress has been inundated with piles of fan mail from legions of prisoners, but is less than flattered with her new- found following. She says, "I've been getting fan mail from maximum security penitentiaries, and Death Row What are the authorities thinking of in playing a show with young teenage girls to Death Row inmates? They write everything - disgusting things that you don't even want to know about. And they send me pictures - 'Oh, here's a picture of me before I was incarcerated!' and there's some guy sat on the sofa with a bottle of beer and a moustache, and a big gut. It's so creepy. Way more creepy than Buffy." Eliza hopes her role as a "good girl" in new cheer-leading movie Bring It On (2000) will bring her a less controversial army of fans. »

Sarah Michelle Gellar Goes Cyber-Babe

7 September 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Sarah Michelle Gellar is launching a web site - because she's fed up with people pretending to be her on-line. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) star admits she doesn't even have a personal e-mail address - being a firm believer in conventional mail. But a spate of fake Gellar's going on-line and persuading fans the imposters are in fact the real life Gellar has driven her to plans to launch her own site. She says, "Once or twice a week I hear about people pretending to be me. If anyone says they have my e-mail address or they talked to me in a chat room, it's not me. And that's one of the reasons I want to launch a website. I want people to know that there's an official place, and that's the only place I will be." »

Buffy's A Stunt Woman

10 August 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) star Sarah Michelle Gellar keeps herself buff by practicing the ancient Japanese art of Tae Kwon-Do. Gellar prides herself in doing a lot of her vampire slaying stunts on her own for the popular TV series - although she admits at times she needs a stunt woman for the most dangerous activities. But it's her training in Tae Kwon-Do that keeps her in fabulous shape, and helps her bash the vamps. She says, "I do not do all of my stunts but I do a good portion. I'm trained in Tae Kwon-Do and do gymnastics every now and then, but I do have to be able to show up for work the next day." »
