Bluray Review: Tales From The Crypt Presents: Demon Knight/Bordello Of Blood

21 October 2015 6:25 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Horror fans have been dying for a good HD release of Tales From The Crypt Presents: Demon Knight for quite some time, and thanks to gang at Scream Factory, we not only have just that, but a special edition Bluray of release of Bordello Of Blood as well. Both releases feature brand new commentaries, as well as in depth docs detailing the making of and in the case of the latter Tales film, the troubles of everything from casting to diva attitudes. We had the chance to check out both releases, so sit back and read on!

The Film:

There are very few horror/comedies as entertaining as 1995’s Demon Knight. The first of three Tales From the Crypt films (2002’s Ritual was so bad that very few fans even acknowledge it), the Ernest Dickerson-helmed film was an instant hit with horror fans, and rightfully so, it’s kind of perfect. »

October 20th Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include Demon Knight, Bordello Of Blood, The Oblong Box

19 October 2015 9:50 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

October 20th is yet another stellar week of horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases, all leading up to our favorite holiday: Halloween. One of my favorite films of all time, Ernest Dickerson’s Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, is finally making its way to HD via a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray from Scream Factory. And as if that’s not enough, Scream is also busy with two more great releases this Tuesday as well—Bordello of Blood and The Larry Fessenden Collection.

Kino Lorber is reviving another cult classic on Tuesday too—The Oblong Box—which is based on the Edgar Allan Poe tale and co-stars two cinematic legends, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee. For those of you Back to the Future fans out there (and really, who isn’t?), Universal is giving the series a few special releases in time for the film’s 30th anniversary and, »

Review: Tales From The Crypt Flicks Demon Knight and Bordello Of Blood on Blu-ray

8 October 2015 11:17 AM, PDT | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Shock takes a critical look at a double-dose of Tales From The Crypt features on Blu-ray. Every horror fan should steep themselves in the legacy of publisher William Gaines’ lamented EC Comics, the line of inky pulp trash responsible for such immortal and controversial 1950’s-weened titles as Weird Science, The Vault Of Horror and, of…

Scream Factory Unleashes Killer Artwork/Order Info For Upcoming Demon Knight/Bordello Of Blood Blurays

6 July 2015 12:55 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Two Scream Factory titles that we’re all incredibly excited for, are the one-two punch releases of Tales From The Crypt‘s Demon Knight and Bordello Of Blood. Demon Knight is in my opinion, one of the most underrated horror films ever, and it’s a film that gets even better with age (I’m not saying it wasn’t good when it originally came out, I saw in theatrically four times). There’s something incredibly magical about every single ingredient of the film, from Billy Zane’s iconic performance, to the awesome special fx and creature design of the film. While Bordello Of Blood might not be As fun as Demon Knight, it’s still a lot of fun (inspired casting choices like Corey Feldman and Chris Sarandon in roles different than the vampire classics they’re knows for) and has its own audience who all love it.

Listen Up Screwheads! Scream Factory Announces Army Of Darkness Among Their Fall Releases

16 June 2015 7:30 AM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

Shout! Factory's horror imprint Scream Factory just surprised American horror fans with the announcement that they'd be handling a Fall collector's edition release of Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness. This comes immediately after their announcements of Blu-ray releases of the two Tales From the Crypt spin off films, Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood. Those two are certainly great news, but Army of Darkness is certainly the winner today.Army of Darkness is one of those films that has been released and re-released over and over again by Starz / Anchor Bay and has proved to be a cash cow for that company. However, no single release of the film in the Us has ever been definitive. There are at least three different cuts of the...

Scream Factory Set To Bring You Brand New Collector’s Edition Blurays of Demon Knight, Bordello Of Blood and Army Of Darkness

15 June 2015 4:35 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Let’s file this one under, “Holy Shit”. Earlier today, genre releasing darlings Scream Factory announced that the much requested Tales From The Crypt films, Ernest Dickerson’s 1995 film Demon Knight and 1996’s Gilbert Adler-helmed Bordello Of Blood were finally getting the Collector’s Edition Bluray treatment, leaving horror fans’ mouths wide open and ending in a group clap that rivals the most epic of announcements. The news of those two films each getting the deluxe treatment separately, and not in a double feature release is awesome, as it looks like Sf is going to go all out with each film.

Now adding to the excitement is out of nowhere announcement that will only add to the excitement: they’re also getting ready to put out a brand new Collector’s Edition Bluray of Sam Raimi’s Army Of Darkness, the third film in the Evil Dead series. So »

Tales From The Crypt’s Demon Knight & Bordello Of Blood Collector’s Edition Blu-rays Announced

15 June 2015 3:32 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Two of the Cryptkeeper's big screen stories will receive a stellar home media treatment this fall. Scream Factory has announced that on October 20th, they will release the Tales From the Crypt films Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood in respective Collector's Edition Blu-rays.

From Scream Factory: "You asked for them...and we got em! Both Tales From The Crypt films Demon Knight (1995) and Bordello Of Blood (1996) will be coming out on 10/20 as separate "Collector Edition" Blu-rays. We have no additional information at this time except that newly-commissioned artwork will be revealed next month and that extras will be announced in Late Summer.

The cat (crypt keeper?) was let out of the bag (coffin?) earlier today over a leak on the internet that caught us by surprise and hence the out-of-the-blue announce today. Originally, we had planned to reveal these two highly-requested titles sometime next week. smile emoticon We hope »

'Demon Knight' Turns 20: 10 reasons the horror-comedy classic deserves our admiration

4 February 2015 2:48 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

All hail a cult classic. When "Demon Knight" premiered in theaters in January 1995, the kickoff to Universal's would-be "Tales from the Crypt" big-screen franchise suffered from generally negative reviews and mild box-office - only to develop a healthy cult following among lovers of old-school creature features in the intervening years. I remember seeing it on a Friday night in a packed house and loving every minute of it, from Billy Zane's over-the-top bad guy to those A-grade practical monster effects. Though the Ernest R. Dickerson-directed film was followed by two inferior movies - 1996's heinous Dennis Miller vehicle "Bordello of Blood" and 2002's "Ritual" - "Demon Knight" holds up one of the best horror-comedies of the 1990s. As it hits the two-decade mark, I'm counting down 10 reasons why it deserves our admiration. »
