John Noble, Hamish Linklater Lead Cast of Off Broadway’s ‘Posterity’

John Noble (“Sleepy Hollow”) and Hamish Linklater (“The Crazy Ones”) lead the cast of the new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright (“I Am My Own Wife”), “Posterity,” receiving its world premiere this spring at Off Broadway’s Atlantic Theater Company.

Dale Soules, Henry Stram (currently in the Bradley Cooper topliner “The Elephant Man”) and Mickey Theis also appear in the show, about the contentious sitting sessions of Henrik Ibsen (Noble) for Norway’s top sculptor (Linklater).

Fringe” alum Noble appeared Off Broadway in “The Substance of Fire” in the spring. Linklater is a Gotham theater veteran, with recent appearances including “Much Ado About Nothing” and “The Comedy of Errors” in Central Park.

“Posterity” begins previews Feb. 25 ahead of a March 15 opening at the Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater.

The 2014 Tony nominations were announced on Tuesday, and left many elated and just as many puzzled. No Denzel? Or Daniel Radcliffe? And nothing for everyone’s favorite traveling NYC duo? But there were some wonderful surprises (four acting nods for Twelfth Night!) and the lack of frontrunners (minus Neil Patrick Harris, Bryan Cranston, and perhaps this divine gal) will make the Hugh Jackman-hosted ceremony on CBS June 8 full of nail-biters. The American playwright and screenwriter on True Detective, David Hockney and langoustines at the River Cafe

Playwright and screenwriter Jon Robin "Robbie" Baitz was brought up in Brazil and South Africa before returning to his birthplace, Los Angeles. In 1988 his first two-act play, The Film Society, transferred to an off-Broadway theatre, following a successful run in La. His subsequent work for the stage has included The Substance of Fire, People I Know, an adaptation of Hedda Gabler and the Pulitzer prize-nominated A Fair Country. Baitz has written for television, with credits including The West Wing and Alias, and he made the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters, which ran for five series. Baitz's Broadway debut, Other Desert Cities, which received five Tony award nominations and earned him his second Pulitzer Pprize nomination, runs at the Old Vic until 24 May.
