Storyline

In the 24th century, the crew of the Enterprise-E has been ordered to patrol the Romulan Neutral Zone by the Federation to avoid interference with their battle against the insidious Borg. Witnessing the loss of the battle, Captain Jean-Luc Picard ignores orders and takes command of the fleet engaging the Borg. But the Borg plan to travel back into the 21st century through a vortex with the intention to stop Earth's first contact with an alien race (the Vulcans). Following the Borg sphere, Picard and his crew realize that they have taken over the Enterprise in order to carry out their mission. Their only chance to do away with the Borg and their seductive queen is to make sure that Zefram Cochrane makes his famous faster-than-light travel to the stars. Written by Blazer346

Trivia

The name "Phoenix" has been used on several U.S. Navy vessels, but possibly the most famous was the Brooklyn light cruiser class one launched in 1938. It survived the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, only to be sold in 1951 to Argentina and renamed "General Belgrano". It was sunk by the Royal Navy submarine HMS Conqueror during the 1982 Falklands War, becoming the only ship ever to be sunk by a nuclear powered submarine. See more »

Goofs

Cmdr Riker unplugs the jukebox when he first meets Dr Cochrane. A few minutes later Dr Cochrane appears to simply hit the jukebox to turn it back on. However, in the background during the last few lines of Riker and Troi's conversation, you can see Cochrane bend down beside the jukebox, (presumably) to plug it in. He then hits it to restart it. The Best Trek Film
18 November 2002 | by (England) – See all my reviews

Star Trek:First Contact is the best Star Trek film in my opinion. Far better than the average Star Trek:Generations or any of the films featuring the original crew.

I won't go into the plot too much because I hate spoiling it for fans and it is easy sometimes to give away too much. Let's just say that the cast of The Next Generation take on the inhuman Borg, one of the best race of Star Trek villains ever.

There are no slow spots in this film. It is one big long action fest and every character is utilized. There are some terrific scenes and there is quite a bit of tension between the crew, particularly Worf and Picard. Picard has some harsh words for Worf at one point in the film and it really does look as though Worf will hit Picard. You could cut the tension in this film with a knife.

I'd also like to mention the great job done by the beautiful Alice Krige as the Borg Queen. Again, there is not a wasted moment in this film and Krige does a brilliant job as the Borg Queen.

I strongly recommend Star Trek:First Contact-it is the type of film which you finish watching and feel as though you have spent your money well.
