Trivia

A picture on the back of the movie box suggests a deleted shot where Sgt. Bilko sprays air freshener on Pvt. Doberman, during the scene where Bilko introduces his platoon. See more »

Goofs

In the movie, Bilko holds the rank of "Master Sergeant" and though Master Sergeants are addressed as "sergeant", the rank is abbreviated "MSG" not "SGT" as in the title. "SGT" is the abbreviation for a buck sergeant, 3 grades lower than Master Sergeant. See more »

Quotes

Pfc. Wally Holbrook: [Pvt. Doberman is playing tug-of-war with a horse for a bet] What's going on?
Sgt. Raquel Barbella: It's Private Doberman, he's the one that looks sort of human. Last night in the gym he said, "I feel as strong as a horse." Some guy from Company P overheard him and said, "Yeah, for how much?". That's the golden rule around here, you don't say nothing unless you're prepared to back it up.

One of the best comedies ever
9 November 2006 | by (Russian Federation) – See all my reviews

I also cant believe the movie is so poorly rated. Whats wrong? So many toilette-humour-pictures got much better rating. And this movie which is really full of fine humour is rated so bad.

Steve Martin is awesome here as well as all other actors. The movie IS funny, the situations are funny, the plot deserves to be rewarded.

It's one of my all time favorites - i do laugh every time i watch it.

Bilko is an incredibly charming foxy Sgt. For me it's one of Steve Martin's best roles. I cant but smile seeing his every face expression, gesture or action. Just super! And all the actors were at their best. Just on their places. I rate it "excellent"
