Donald Trump Once Hit on Emma Thompson, and the Story Will Give You the Creeps

11 hours ago | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Just when you thought you couldn't be more repulsed by Donald Trump's interactions with women, another gross story drops from the heavens. British actress Emma Thompson recently appeared on Scandinavian TV show Skavlan, where the 57-year-old shared a story about the time the Sabrina the Teenage Witch guest star hit on her. Exactly one day after she split from first husband Kenneth Branagh, she received a call in her trailer on the set of the 1998 film Primary Colors (in which she plays a character loosely inspired by Hillary Clinton, coincidentally). The phone rang and she heard a voice that said, "Hi, it's Donald Trump here," a sensation that Emma described as "like a moose had just entered my trailer" since that phone had never rung before. He offered her "some accommodation" in Trump Towers because "they're really comfortable" and finished off the call by saying, "Well, you know, I »

Anjelica Huston in “Smash”: Eric Leibowitz /NBC

Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Anjelica Huston are joining forces to make some magic at Lifetime. Melissa Joan Hart will direct the Oscar winner in “Watcher in the Woods,” an upcoming original movie for the network. Variety reports that Huston will topline the re-imagining of the 1980 cult classic horror film.

Huston plays “Mrs. Alywood, the distraught mother whose daughter vanished in the English countryside over 20 years ago. When Jan Carstairs (Tallulah Evans) and her family move into the idyllic Alywood manor for the summer, the family is warned against entering the surrounding woods, but Jan and her little sister Ellie (Dixie Egerickx) hear voices coming from the forest,” Variety summarizes. “As Jan unravels the dark past hidden by the townspeople, she delves further into the mystery and deeper into danger, but now it might be too late to escape.”

In addition to her directing duties, Hart is executive producing “Watcher in the Woods” along with Paula Hart, her mother. The “God’s Not Dead 2” actress has previously helmed episodes of “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” in which she starred from 1996–2003, her comedy series “Melissa & Joey,” and “Santa Con,” a 2014 Lifetime movie about a con man who is forced to accept a job as a department store Santa.

Huston won an Academy Award in 1986 for “Prizzi’s Honor.” “Transparent” and “Smash” are among her recent credits.

A premiere date for “Watcher in the Woods” hasn’t been announced yet. Lifetime did, however, reveal when to expect Kyra Sedgwick’s directorial debut, “Story of a Girl.” The coming-of-age story based on Sara Zarr’s Ya novel will air on the network July 23.

Kal Penn is opening up about his experiences with what he deemed offensive typecasting in Hollywood — and he’s using Twitter to do it.

The 39-year-old actor shared a slew of photos of old audition scripts for shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Smart Guy and King of Queens to highlight his experience with stereotypes in the industry.

“Jeez I remember this one! They were awful. ‘Can you make his accent a little more Authentic?’ That usually meant they wanted Apu,” Penn wrote alongside one script, as he referenced the name of a fictional Indian-American character on The Simpsons.

Supergirl Season 2, Episode 11 Review: The Martian Chronicles

6 February 2017 8:23 PM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

This episode of Supergirl finds the heroine coming face-to-face with the White Martian threat in a version of the show that departs from the typical format presented so far this year. In fact, it is much more like what was shown in season one, where it focuses primarily on Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, and the primary threat. There was no Guardian, powered-up Mon-El, or Kryptonite-suited Alex Danvers present for the entire show.

We get started in the "alien bar" that many have come to despise, and right away it seemed as if it was going to be another sappy episode focusing on things like "feelings," "relationships," and the Barenaked Ladies, as Kara is broken hearted that her sister is ignoring her on her "Earth Birthday." Additionally, Mon-El has accepted her rejection to his advances only for Kara to realize she has feelings for him, and Miss Martian gets emotional with Martian Manhunter. »

Riverdale: Could Sabrina The Teenage Witch Show Up In This Dark, Weird Drama?

3 February 2017 12:10 PM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Riverdale is a CW show that I’ve had my eye on since it was first announced. While I’m not the most familiar with the comics on which it is based, I do know one thing: they are wholesome as f***. So when I heard The CW would be adapting it with a dark, Twin Peaks-esque edge to it, wherein the wholesome town has a seedy underbelly, I was intrigued.

I was especially surprised when watching the pilot and I saw Josie and the Pussycats on screen. Yes, they are a part of the Archie Comics, but for some reason, I expected Riverdale to stick to the main four of Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica. With Josie and the Pussycats already there on the sidelines, who knows who else we could expect?

Sabrina Not Ruled Out For Riverdale Season 1, New Extended Promo Released

3 February 2017 9:32 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Although Riverdale is only two episodes in, that hasn’t stopped anyone from wondering what’s further down the line. Heck, there was spinoff talk circulating before the pilot even aired.

As we said in the past, if there’s any character occupying the Archie universe worthy of headlining their own series that wouldn’t leave a substantial void in Riverdale itself, Sabrina the Teenage Witch undoubtedly tops the list. And apparently, we aren’t the only ones thinking so, as TheWrap recently brought her up when speaking with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who teased that she could be showing up sooner than expected:

“We could [see her in Season 1. As I say, never say never, but it’s certainly within the realm of possibility.”

What he had to say next did nothing but add fuel to the spinoff fire:

“As dark as ‘Riverdale’ is, the vision for Sabrina is even darker. Riverdale is on one side of the Sweetwater River and Greendale, where Sabrina lives, is on the other. »

Riverdale: the long, strange history of Archie Comics on TV

Chris Cummins Jan 24, 2017

A look-back at the previous attempts to bring Archie to TV before they got it right with Riverdale...

When Riverdale premieres on the CW on January 26th, it will mark a milestone for Archie Comics - the first time in the company's 75-year history that its characters will truly shine on television. A mix of gleefully ridiculous kitsch with standout performances and some truly smart writing, the series is poised to be 2017's breakout TV hit.

That said, it took a while for Archie to get to this point. There have been many attempts to bring Archie and his friends to TV before, but these all suffered for either being shoddily animated (the various 1960s cartoons), misguided (1990's Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again), or just plain, um, weird (the X-Files cash-in Archie's Weird Mysteries »

Sabrina the Teenage Witch may feature in live-action Archie show Riverdale

10 January 2017 6:00 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Later this month, The CW is set to launch Riverdale, a modern, live-action take on the Archie comic book universe which is set to bring the likes of Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge and Josie McCoy to the small screen.

Well, it seems another iconic Archie character may also show up in the series, with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teasing a potential appearance from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

“Some people don’t even know that Sabrina is in the Archie family,” said Aguirre-Sacasa at the Television Critics Association panel (via EW). “There is absolutely a universe where Sabrina pops up in Riverdale or one town over in Greendale. Certainly, the priority is launching Riverdale and making sure that show is as good as it can be and as embraced as we want it to be. I’ll just tease that Sabrina has potential with a capital P.”

The CW Won’t Rule Out Riverdale Spinoffs, Sabrina The Teenage Witch Teased

8 January 2017 8:34 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Taking into account that The CW renewed four series based on DC properties earlier today, it’s quite apparent that the network has no aversion to green-lighting spinoffs and has great confidence in comic book adaptations. As such, it comes as no surprise that an Archie television universe may come into existence should Riverdale prove to be a success.

Those hoping for such a thing to happen will likely be glad to read this quote from CW president Mark Pedowitz, whom Screen Rant caught up with at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. When asked if an expanded universe is a possibility, Pedowitz said:

Talk to me in about 5-6 weeks.”

Although that does fill us with excitement, we do have to question how spinoffs would logically work in this universe they’ve created. Some of the characters whom are known to headline comics of their own aside from Archie himself – Betty, »

‘Riverdale’ Producers Talk Wild Archie Pitches, Archie Musical, Miss Grundy

8 January 2017 11:09 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The CW’s upcoming gritty Archie Comics series “Riverdale” has been described in various ways: “The O.C.” meets “Twin Peaks.” “90210” meets “Twin Peaks.” “Gossip Girl” meets “Twin Peaks.” But it wasn’t always thus.

It started with Archie Comics executives Jon Goldwater (CEO and publisher) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (chief creative officer) looking to do a “Perks of Being a Wallflower”-type film, “Riverdale” executive producer Aguirre-Sacasa revealed Sunday morning at the CW’s TCA panel. But while many studios liked the pitch, everyone passed, until the idea came to Warner Bros. It was bought as a film, and development was continuing apace until a meeting with one particular executive.

“He said, ‘I want you to think about time travel, Archie traveling through time,'” Aguirre-Sacasa said. Then came another suggestion: “Portals are huge, [there’s] a portal to another dimension.” And finally: “What if Louis C.K. is Archie?”

“It was like something out of an episode of ‘Entourage »
