It's hard to walk away from a successful show; for every Breaking Bad or Seinfeld that goes out on top, many more stick around too long trying to milk it dry. Some of the greatest shows – even a few that made our mammoth "100 Greatest TV Shows" list – have hung around for an extra season or 12. Like these 10 series, for example.

True Blood

Strange how everybody loved this Southern-gothic vampire-sex fantasy for a few years there—then it started turning into self-parodic leprechaun porn.

How Sabrina the Teenage Witch spelled a change in 90s TV

27 September 2016 3:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

With its wisecracking cat, screwball dialogue and its smart, empowered lead character, Sabrina’s magic lingers 20 years after it was first broadcast

A talking cat. A giant flan. Truth sprinkles. Sabrina the Teenage Witch was irreverent and absurd, yes, but its feminist ethos and screwball-esque dialogue made it stand out from the average teen show of its day.

Which is why, 20 years on, it still resonates. When I asked friends if the show had an impact on their lives, I received a number of immediate responses – “If heaven is just a black cat offering retorts and advice, I’d be happy,” said one. “Everything in their magical world was grounded in logic,” said another. “Of course the cat can talk – he’s a man serving a prison sentence for trying to take over the world. Of course you have an evil twin – our whole family does. The justifications for magic »

Kids' Shows You Wish Were Still On

25 May 2016 6:00 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Nobody wants to admit it, but the TV shows you watch as a kid help shape your personality as an adult. Sure, there are lots of other factors, like your friends, family, and siblings, but for kids who were allowed television time -- or sneak-watched while at a friend's house -- TV shows were a vital part of shaping your worldview. From "The Powerpuff Girls" kicking butt in Townsville to the magic of the "Wizards of Waverly Place," kids shows that are no longer on the air were downright fascinating. Well, most of them.

That isn't to say kids' shows today aren't just as awesome as the classics. There's always "Adventure Time's" brilliance or the galactic plot lines of "Star Wars Rebels," but nothing compares to watching Miley Cyrus pretend to be two different people with only a wig to tell "them" apart. Of course, child stars grow up, »

While appearing on the talk show FABLife, Melissa Joan Hart was asked whether either of her 1990s comedy series – Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and Clarissa Explains It All – would be coming back, given the success of such belated series continuations as Netflix’s Fuller House.

Her response was rather positive, if a little wary, fans of both shows should be glad to hear…

“I am going to a meeting after this,” Hart stated, before clarifying that “it’s a meeting, hold on,” and encouraging the applauding audience members to “take a step back.”

She continued: “They’re throwing around Clarissa and Sabrina ideas, but it depends on who’s going to give up rights, who’s going to do it, how’s it going to be done. »

The biggest trailer this week was undoubtedly the first look at Paul Feig’s all-female reboot/sequel/gender bender Ghostbusters. It hasn’t gone down too favourably in the Flickering Myth writers’ room.

Hot on its Ghostbuster car trails (now quite appropriately a hearse) comes the first full-length trailer of Finding Dory. Be warned of spoilers for the series’ first instalment, Finding Nemo: they found him.

Sticking with the animated genre, this week also saw new trailers for The Angry Birds Movie (yes, that’s actually a thing)…

10 Movies From 2016 That Could Score 0% On Rotten Tomatoes

Saban Films

It takes a really, really terrible movie to wind up with a score of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes – even Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 has 5%. And yet, it does happen…

Last year, Adam Sandler’s “comedy” western, The Ridiculous Six, managed the incredible feat: it’s currently sitting pretty on Rotten Tomatoes with an embarrassing score of 0%, based on 30 reviews.

The smart money is on the following films joining that incredible level of failure on every level…

10. God’s Not Dead 2 Pure Flix Entertainment

Release Date: April 1, 2016

As a cinematic genre, “Christian dramas” rarely fare well on the critical review side of things. God’s Not Dead, one such film from 2014, managed a mere 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The plot concerned a student, played by Kevin Sorbo, who goes up against an atheist teacher who demands that his students sign a declaration that “God is dead” in order to pass his philosophy class. »

"Hey, what other old shows could we bring back?" That's a question being asked all over Hollywood, now that Fuller House worked America up into a nostalgia frenzy. It's well into its reboot season, but right now Fuller House is the revival show that's generated buzz, press and more than a few conversations about pop culture nostalgia. If this »
