A faithful adaptation work film of the radio serial "Los Porretas".
24 January 2016 | by (Spain) – See all my reviews

In 1996, Carlos Suárez directed the film version of the serial, entitled "Los Porretas" with Alfredo Landa in the role of "Don Segismundo" and Miriam Diaz-Aroca in the "Candelaria" his daughter in low, accompanied by, among others, Manuel Alexandre, Valeriano Andrés, Queta Claver, Manuel Codeso, María Isbert, Llàtzer Escarceller and Javivi.

In the field of radio and for ten minutes everyday life of "Los Porretas", a family of Spanish middle class, in front of the patriarch, "Don Segismundo Porretas" stood was narrated that his 80 is a true "bon vivant" and never misses an opportunity to attend the "Casino del Buen Jubilado". Throughout each episode the not always easy relations "Don Segismundo " with his daughter in low "Candelaria " and his conflicting grandchildren.

It was one of the last examples of the genre of the radio serial that had dazzled the Spanish listeners during the decades of the fifties and sixties. The serial was born from the mind of writer Eduardo Vazquez, who twenty years earlier had created another of the most emblematic soap operas in the history of radio in Spain: "Matilde, Perico y Periquín". It was directed by José Fernando Dicenta until his death in 1984.

The serial, however, departed from the pattern of their predecessors "Ama Rosa", "Simplemente María" and many others. The passionate dramas were no longer please the public, whose tastes had evolved in the years before. It is therefore preferred to replace a light comedy melodrama, who succeeded in the audience and remained on the air for over twelve years.
