22 November 2012 3:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Released in the UK and Ireland this week, Michael Hoffman (One Fine Day) returns behind the camera to bring us Gambit, with an impressive leading cast in Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, and Alan Rickman.

Renowned writers Joel and Ethan Coen (The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men) have penned the script, and after we saw four new clips for the film earlier in the week, Momentum have released another new clip, giving us a look at Diaz’s arrival in the UK.

“Private art curator Harry Deane devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.”

Starring alongside the leading trio will be an equally impressive support, »

Best known for voicing Hayley on American Dad!, Rachael MacFarlane, creator Seth MacFarlane’s sister, has released her debut album, Hayley Sings, timed nicely to coincide with the new season’s premiere episode on Fox on Sunday night in the Us.

The eighth season has kicked off in earnest, and Rachel MacFarlane has released an excellent music video for the song, Makin’ Whoopee, the opening track on the new record, and one of the two songs from the album heard in the first episode.

“Hayley Sings is the debut album from American Dad! star Rachael MacFarlane. MacFarlane voices the beloved animated character of Hayley Smith on the Emmy nominated television show, American Dad!, currently in its seventh season. The 14-track playlist is inspired by music from the 60s and 70s. “When I was growing up, my dad introduced me to groups like Simon and Garfunkel and The Beatles and Crosby, »

'Gambit' & 'The Last Station' Director Michael Hoffman To Helm Nicholas Sparks Adaptation 'The Best Of Me'

27 September 2012 1:28 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Now middle-aged and leading different lives, a couple from opposite sides of the tracks rekindle their young romance, when a funeral in their hometown brings them together. If this all sounds vaguely familiar, that's because it's yet another Nicholas Sparks adaptation, a man who has turned formulaic and manipulative romances into a cottage industry of crap. Warner Bros. is behind this latest venture, picking up the rights when Sparks pitched it to them before he even wrote the book (because why bother writing it, if it's not going to be spawned into a movie, right?). This time around Michael Hoffman, the thoroughly adequate helmer behind fare such as "The Last Station," "One Fine Day," The Emperor's Club" and the upcoming "Gambit" is helming the picture. Will Fetters, who has experience dealing with Sparks' pablum, having penned this year's "The Lucky One," is being courted to rewrite the first draft by J. »

Michael Hoffman ("One Fine Day," "The Last Station") is in talks to direct "The Best Of Me", the next adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks bestseller, which is set up at Warner Bros. Pictures says Deadline.

The story follows small-town high school sweethearts from opposite sides of the tracks. Now middle-aged and having lived very different lives, they return home for a funeral and confront the past.

Will Fetters ("The Lucky One") is being courted to do a rewrite of J. Mills Goodloe's script, while Sparks and Denise Dinovi are producing. »

Michael Hoffman in Talks to Direct Nicholas Sparks Adaptation The Best Of Me

27 September 2012 12:05 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Another day, another Nicholas Sparks feature film adaptation.  With The Lucky One’s release this past April and Safe Haven set to hit theaters in February, Warner Bros. is putting yet another Nicolas Sparks adaptation in the pipeline.  Deadline reports that Michael Hoffman (One Fine Day, The Emperor’s Club) is in talks to direct The Best of Me, with The Lucky One scribe Will Fetters being courted to rewrite the screenplay.  The story centers on two teenagers from opposite sides of the tracks (aren’t they all?) who fell in love in high school but were torn apart shortly thereafter, setting them on two radically different paths.  They reconnect in their hometown twenty-five years later at a funeral, where they’re forced to drum up the past and confront painful memories. Hoffman most recently directed the remake of Gambit with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, which hits theaters early next year. »

Mae Whitman on 'Parenthood,' 'Arrested Development' & More!

25 September 2012 3:46 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Mae Whitman has played Amber on "Parenthood" (Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Et on NBC) for the past four seasons as the character has grown from rebellious teenager to much more sophisticated. And Whitman herself has grown up on camera, too.

From George Clooney's daughter in "One Fine Day," to a wealthy mini-socialite on the late "State of Grace," to George Michael's unforgettably forgettable girlfriend on "Arrested Development" (her?) and now, to Amber, Whitman has been acting for 18 of her 24 years.

The actress chatted with HuffPost TV about what's expected to be a very emotional Season 4 of "Parenthood," how they make those fight scenes so realistic, the challenges of growing up on screen and her hopes for a "One Fine Day" reunion. Read on for more with Whitman ...

I know we're only a couple episodes in, but Amber seems particularly grown up this season. Were you surprised when you »

Why 'Perks Of Being A Wallflower' Isn't A Usual Teen Comedy

21 September 2012 6:10 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Mae Whitman is more than just plant ... uh ... Ann.

The 24-year-old actress was working long before playing Michael Cera's hilariously forgettable onscreen girlfriend in "Arrested Development." As a child, she appeared in films like "When a Man Loves a Woman," "One Fine Day" and "Independence Day." In recent years, Whitman has carved a niche playing complicated young adults in "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," the television series "Parenthood" and, most recently, the new film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."

Adapted by Stephen Chbosky from his seminal teen novel of the same name, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" follows a group of friends as they navigate the turbulent waters of high school and young adulthood. What sets the film apart from nominal coming-of-age films -- besides the early '90s setting and resulting killer soundtrack -- is that none of the characters in "Perks" are traditional high school »

A first UK trailer for Hoffman's latest emerged today, giving us an initial glimpse of Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci in action.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Movie Review

26 August 2012 12:15 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Very seldom does Bollywood attempt a love story of people on the wrong side of forty. Therefore, the promos of Bela Sehgal directed Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi came as a breath of fresh air, promising a funny and heartwarming rom-com of two 40 plus protagonists. Unfortunately, the film could not live up to the promise.

Farhad (Boman Irani) is a 45 year old lingerie salesman who lives with his mother (Daisy Irani) and grandmother (Shammi). His unmarried status is not only the cause of his loneliness but also embarrassment in front of his Parsi family and friends. One fine day, 40 year old Shirin (Farah Khan) walks into his lingerie store and Farhad falls head over heels in love. However the path of true love is never easy, is it?

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is a noble attempt but painfully amateur. The film needed a director who could balance »

Boman Irani: “I am very proud of the way Farah and I have gelled so beautifully together in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi”

22 August 2012 9:53 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

I admit, I love love stories, and from the first time that I saw the trailer of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, I thought that this was going to be a cute romantic comedy. However, this not your average filmi romance because instead of young love, this film tells the story of finding your soul mate even when you think it might be to late in life. Shirin and Farhad are two over-forty middle aged Parsi people leading their lives amidst a fast dwindling Parsi community. Self content and enveloped in their daily worldly affairs, they have not had the time to pause and think about love. That is, until they meet each other. What follows is an unconventional love story – quirky and sweet, having its own essence of romance, and teaching the world that love has no expiry date. The film marks the acting debut of choreographer and director Farah Khan, »

Vote: Who Should Play Elena Lincoln (Aka Mrs. Robinson) In '50 Shades Of Grey'?

18 July 2012 2:58 PM, PDT | Filmology | See recent Filmology news »

Guys, I'm almost done with the third book in the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy! Woo hoo! I know, pathetic. Especially because these books Suck So Much (yes, really) that it has taken me months to even get through them. But I'm one of those people that has to finish something she started. Even if it means reading the same exact sex scene 100 times over.

Because so many of you reacted to my casting choices for the sought-after roles of Christian Grey and Ana Steele, I figured, hell, let's keep this thing going. At the  very least, so that my reading wasn't a complete waste.

Which it was. But nevertheless, let's talk about who should and could play the sexy cougar character of Elena Lincoln. Otherwise known as Christian's "Mrs. Robinson."

Agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments!

Watch My Home Movie: Cory McAbee’s Latest, Masturbation Or Art?

You may not know exactly what to expect from a Cory McAbee film, a man, who, with only one feature length film to his name, has a sizable cult following. His latest, Crazy & Thief is an hour long musical fantasy that may try your patience if you aren’t particularly fond of watching aimless children or experimental nepotism.

One fine day in New York City, 7 year old girl Crazy (Willa Vy McAbee) take a splotch of blank ink, dots up a blank manila envelope, calls it a Star Map and takes her 2 year old brother Thief (John Huck McAbee) on a city search for stars not in the sky, but here on Earth. They find stars on bottle caps, on shop windows, as graffiti, etc. Hungry, they employ a scheme for young Thief to acquire food, but, not knowing any better, »

Twins: Michelle's Blonde Brood

We're celebrating twins daily at 2:22 pm while we're in Gemini

Gratuitous Anecdote! I've always loved to draw and in my high school years it's what people knew me for. I won the High School's Departmental Award in Art (Do they still have departmental awards? Hell, do they still have art classes?) in that heady stretch of graduation celebrations where they keep honoring star pupils. One day early in my senior year or maybe it was at the end of my junior year, the art teacher asked one of the students to pose for the class. A guy I didn't know volunteered and I felt totally inspired. Instant crushing helps. He loved my drawing and we became fast friends after the class. The first day I went to his house after school I was stunned to see a whole house full of doppelgangers. He had one of those families »
