MPAA Rated PG-13 for some thematic elements and brief strong language

Sex & Nudity

  • The major plot point is a young unmarried woman becomes pregnant after living with a man. Nothing explicit is shown, although she is referred to as a "slut" and there is reference to "screwing."
  • A man's new girlfriend wears lingerie with a short robe over the top. It is only slightly revealing.
  • Kissing scenes.

Violence & Gore

  • A dead body is shown. At the place where he was shot there is a small blood stain on on the shirt.
  • A man pulls his hand back, as if to strike a woman, but the scene ends there.
  • A train crash is shown from the interior view of the car. People are violently tossed about and slammed into walls. But it is not gruesome, and there is no blood.


  • The main reason for the PG-13 rating.
  • There are numerous uses of the word sh**, he**, b***ard, damn.
  • One scene has characters arguing over the appropriateness of the words: ass and tits.
  • Two instances of the word f*ck in one scene.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One main character likes to drink and smoke. She is often seen trying to sneak a cigarette or pour a drink, but her family is concerned for her health and usually take away the cigarettes or alcohol. One scene has her hiding a lit cigarette in her mouth.
  • A family drinks wine with their dinner.
  • Beer cans are present in a scene.
  • One character gets drunk over a failed love affair. He carries a wine bottle and dances until other characters help him to bed.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Although not gruesome, the train crash scene could frighten sensitive or young viewers. Characters are violently tossed about and slammed into walls. Doors slam and a mirror shatters.There is crashing and screeching noises and the lights flash on and off.
  • One character carries a gun in an attempt to frighten another character.
