Storyline

In 1960, the Israeli Secret Service learns that former SS-Lietuenant Colonel Adolf Eichmann, who was one of the key figures in the Jewish holocaust of World War II, is living under the assumed name Ricardo Clement in Argentina. The film thus explores the Isreali effort to capture Eichmann, as seen from the perspective of the leading agent of the project, as well as giving focus to Eichmann's own explanations as to the crimes he commited. Trivia

Over fifteen years passed from the time of discovery (1957) that Eichmann was living in Argentina until the man responsible received the award (1972) that had been promised. However, Lothar Hermann, a blind, half Jewish refugee, did not receive official recognition by the State of Israel, albeit posthumous, until 2012. See more »

Goofs

In real life, the aircraft used to take Eichmann to Israel was a Bristol Britannia. However, these turboprop machines had very short working lives due to the popularity of jets and thus none were available for the film. As a result a Boeing 707 jetliner was used instead in the film. Worse, it appears to be a JT3D-engined Intercontinental (a -320B or -320C) even though the -320B did not first fly until 1962 and the -320C was not introduced until 1964. See more »

Impressive as ever.
11 August 1999 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I knew a movie with Robert Duvall in the lead would have to have a pretty plausible explanation for going straight to video ,and of course, this is a made for TV film which just goes to show how far Duvall's amazing acting potential stands.

It was quite well told, and was of course, brilliantly acted by all the leads involved.Eichmann's story was interesting and factual. We see him waver between his past and present worlds as a one time savage war crimanal, responsible for unspeakable acts of human atrocity,to his present state as a feeble, helpless old man who evokes genuine human sympathy.

A quite impressive made for TV movie.Well worth seeing.
