Storyline

Il famoso direttore d'orchestra Victor fa ritorno a casa alla notizia della morte della madre. Il musicista è professionalmente impegnato con la elaborazione del "Christmas Oratorio" di Bach, opera piuttosto difficile. Nella casa materna ritrova delle carte di famiglia e, fra queste, alcune lettere del padre, che ricorda appena. Una nuova luce si accende sulla storia della sua famiglia e su quella della nonna Solveig, grande estimatrice dell'opera che sta preparando, morta prematuramente per un banale incidente.

excellent

To me this film was an excellent portrayal of a man cast into a new world of sadness by the death of his beloved wife.The portrayal of a depressed and very lonely man by Aron Nordensson alone made the film worthwhile. Based on the novel by respected Swedish Poet and Novelist Göran Tunströms this is not your average action filled drama but a very convincing story far removed from the all too clichéd predictable dramas we see so much of these days. Tunström's story of both father and son longing for some kind of happiness or contentment in their lives is very poignant. A gem of a movie in every aspect.
